I was planning to say that, but I didn't because you can't be a female Perry fan and say that without people rolling their eyes at you and thinking/saying you only like it because Perry does. I knew who Sam Cooke was before I knew jack shit about Perry, though, that's for sure.

Before I knew who Sam Cooke OR Steve Perry was, I first heard that material from The Spinner's version of Cupid. Absolutely amazing! Yeah, it was dated and a little disco sounding, but Jonathan Edwards nailed that song dead on, and the last notes on that refrain were amazing. Speaking of The Spinnners....What a great vocal band!! Damn, now I want to hear some more Spinners.

Sounds like you "keep workin' your way back" to The Spinners.

In no particular order (except for Perry):

Steve Perry
Freddie Mercury
Ronnie James Dio
Brad Delp
Rob Halford
Bruce Dickinson
Dennis DeYoung (for some reason, I nearly put Angus Young.)
Jeff Scott Soto
Steve Augeri
Robert Plant
Deen Castronovo
George Michael
Arnel Pineda
Vince Neil**

Edit: Oh hell, yes! Vince Neil. Saw him for Motley Crue's reunion tour and he kicked the most ass out of any live singer I've personally seen (JSS coming a close second).

No you didn't. This clown is a full blown lipper. He almost kicked Neal's ass last year at a hotel. I saw this cheap piece of dung open for Puddle of Mudd and Nickelback. Complete joke. Looks like he woofed down three Big Macs and Xtra size fries and about 5 milkshakes. Bloated piece of shit who sang almost as good as me.

Did I mention this asshole of a human being killed someone while drunk driving?

Have a nice trip to Hell douche bag.

Neal? Yeah. Taking the whole beer bottle to the face and still playing was pretty metal-ish for Journey.

Well, surely Vince hasn't reached Axl Rose's legendary level of prick.

No particular order (except the top 3 in each list and for some reason my top 3 fave women singers seem to be female vocal versions of my top 3 male singers).

Steve Perry
Eric Martin
JSS
Jeff Keith
Michael Hutchins
Michael Sweet
Freddie Mercury
Sebastian Bach

Pat Benatar
Martina McBride (should have been a rocker)
Anne Wilson
Amanda Marshall
Sass Jordan

I'll agree that Vince has lost most of what he had in the mid-80's...which is what I was referring to. He used to be a bad ass vocalist and nothing can take that away. And for the record, he'd kick Neal's ass from L.A. to Florida if given the chance. Ask Tommy Lee who found out firsthand or Axl Rose who was too chicken shit when Vince challenged him to a Pay-Per-View. Called him a pussy in front of everyone.

Wow Vince kicked skinny as fuck, drunkard Tommy Lee's ass. Oh! and he scared off Axl Rose. Wow he must be quite the beat down artist.

Did like his vox back in the day though. :)

Great to see her show up on somebody else's list too, couldn't agree more........very underrated! IMO, she is the JSS of Canadian music. Powerful voice and sings from the soul. I remember when this song first came out I remember reading about both Jon Bon Jovi and Elton John raving about her.
