well, if you are going to re-record old hits, you may as well change them up a little :)

But not like Bon Jovi did with "This Left"...that sucked. No win situation really! If a band was to do that, they should bring in some independant, but intelligent ears and take some advice from that person....hint hint....hahaha.

It kicks ass and the beauty of it is he doesn't sound like or try to be Perry and they aren't trying to re-live the 80's, very cool cover.

hmm..I like the music, but doesn't really sound like a cover to me, it needs fresh lyrics and it could be a new song in it's own right. ;)

Are you saying there's a better Journey cover band than the cover band named "Journey?" Guess I'll have to go read the front page!

 :?
It reminds me of the first time I heard Twisted Sister sing "Oh Come All Ye Faithful"

I loved the instrumental bits but it's not DSB. The lyrics don't match the mood of the music. It could be good with original lyrics.
...
Did that make any sense?

I don't like it. It's too busy and musically it's just all over the place. Some songs don't need to have covers done...this is one of them.

I love the song and all the changes, but the lyrics no longer fit it. The music is like some epic battle theme, not a Journey love song.
Sounds very progressive European, like Royal Hunt, or Iron Maiden with orchestration...maybe Saga, or TSO.
It's cool...in it's own way. Use the music, lose those lyrics and it'd be even cooler.

Btw, it appears there are other covers => http://www.myspace.com/northernkings
Check out Billy Idol's 'Rebel Yell'. Talk about interesting goth...

Wouldn't that be equal to actually writing their own?

Liked the music. The lyrics definately do not fit. Like someone earlier said sort of Iron Maiden/Royal Huntish.

Definately sounded 80's ish to me. If that didn't sound like 80s metal, I don't know what you guys were listening to back then.

I'll give it a 3 out of 5 for being "interesting".

I dunno...Sounds a bit like a TSO song.
It sure is an interesting approach,but...It's hard to dig it as long as the classic version is etched in my mind.
A fun listen nonetheless.

in know,, if your going to change a song that much then some of the lyrics will just have to be updated,, " just a small town girl .................i killed her on a midnite traiiiiiiiiiinnnnn" or something..
