I don't know, man...a lot of people thought our defense would not hold Ohio State under 50 at their place. If it happens, I think it would be a lot closer than a lot of people think. The Zooker's bringing us some great talent. The year we're having this year was supposed to be happening next year.

So you know our stance the University of Florida Athletic Association(which includes our Coach-all the way back to Spurrier in this case) has long been a proponent of a playoff system. We would love to have that opportunity. Unfortunately most others dont feel this way. So we make the most of what we have currently, which has given us 2 National Championships since 1996.

Zook has always been a GREAT recruiter, noone could take that from him anywhere. He lost his job at UF because he couldnt finish a game, got that NFL mentality of being too conservative in the 2nd half. Also made some bonehead play calls that cost us close games. But noone dislikes him in Gainesville, just glad hes the Illini coach now.

Illinois is the real deal.

I haven't seen a qb in the nation improve as much over 1 year as Isiah Williams and the kid is a (shudder) Sophomore.

Fun team to watch, that's for sure. It's almost as if they should be in the Pac 10, huh?

Pretty sure he coached the perfect game at #1 Ohio State. He wasn't too conservative when Illinois had the ball for 13+ minutes in the 4th quarter (including the final 8 minutes of the game). THAT'S how you finish off a victory. I think it's time to put the "Zook can't coach" sayings to rest, after how's he's managed games this year.

By the way, tell the person who started fireronzook.com that nobody dislikes him in Florida. You guys ran him off too soon, and now look what happens when he's given a legitimate chance. And don't forget 22 of the 24 starters on the national championship team last year were recruited by Zook. I'm sure he could have coached them to a victory in that game, so it's not like Meyer was the only person who could win down there.

 Actually, our style of play would fit pretty well in the Pac 10. It's definately been a fun year. I've sat through some absolutely terrible games the last couple of years. It's nice to see a turnaround.

Regardless of what Zook has done at Illinois we are still glad hes gone. I dont know how many emails I sent to our AD as an alumni to get rid of him myself. We didnt run him off too soon, we went from a Lamborgini(Steve Spurrier) to a Kia with him. He would never be accepted in the Gator nation. And had Urban had these players more than 2 years we would have 2 National Championships. I know expectations arent as high at UI as they are at UF and you guys will be happy with these accomplishments but at Florida we play for National Championships, not Outback Bowls. By the way, in Zooks years at UF he NEVER won a Bowl game, but he cost us one his first season against Michigan. I am proud of his accomplishments at UI, but I am glad hes there and not at UF.

What's this "We" shit? Did you go to school at UF? Play there? This "we" shit is a bit tiring.

Are you on "Urban's" speed dial? First name basis eh?

Dude, I got news for you. Urban and the Gators aren't going to a BCS bowl. They probably will be in the Outback Bowl or the Citrus bowl this year. You have rosy glasses on dude. Tell Urban hi and goodluck to "your" team.

That's the thing - he hasn't done much at Illinois yet, and he'll be the first to tell you. But he has the university and the city talking about football again, which hasn't happened since 2001 when LSU rolled over Illinois in the Sugar Bowl. You don't think Zook could have won the national championship at Florida, with all the players he recruited? I sure as hell would hope that Urban Meyer won it last year with all that talent.

But see how long Urban Meyer is going to stay in Gainesville's good graces after a couple of year of not playing in BCS games.

Just thought I would tell you all that for this holiday weekend, I am going to call up Jimmie and we are going to drive racecars, and then I am flying out to PA and hanging with Joe. Then Joe P, and I are going to see Charlie in South Bend, and get him and drive to Chicago to see the Blackhawks take on Phoenix. Wayne has been kind enough to give us free tickets. We are all going to hang in Chitown. Then Bill and Hill will meet us in Council Bluffs for a rally/dinner.

Yea, w/ one caveat, though.
Illinois might be a little too physical for the PAC 10.

That said, if Rodney Kinlaw didn't put that ball on the carpet, Penn State probably beats you guys in Champagne, how about it, Juanno? Borelli was brutal that day as well.
But the Illini rushing attack is flat scary, comparable to Pat White and Steve Slaton down in Morgantown.

Actually Deano, I did graduate from UF in 1990 with a degree in business management. 4 years there. Want a list of my Professors? And I am thankful for the education I received from there because today I am a Network Manager with a company with a 3 letter name-Telecommunications company, the largest one in the world. And as alumni and a Gator booster I feel like I have all right to call Urban by his first name, or call him Coach, or whatever I choose. My father graduated there as well many years ago. My sisters went there. My daughter will be enrolling there as well in 1 and a half years so I think my family has spent enough money there to call him Urban. And when Ive seen him in person at Gator Gatherings and games at the Gator Walk Ive called him Urban and hes had NO problem with it, so why should you? And Deano, when I see him again, which will be this Saturday for the UF-FSU game I will tell him you said Hi.

Sorry man. He called me out and I bleed Orange and Blue. I was raised by a Gator dad and he taught us all to be proud of UF, regardless of wins and losses. When I was a baby I came home from the hospital in a Gator blanket. I was going to games with my old man long before I enrolled as a student there. And when it came time to defend them, my old man would go to war with the best of them. I guess, to quote Hank Williams Jr. its my Family Tradition! I'm gonna ease off this subject now, hopefully I made my point, but if I didnt big deal. On this forum I'd rather discuss my favorite band anyway.

Regardless, it was a pretty good game this year. And next year could be one hell of a game in Happy Valley. I'm just hoping Mendenhall decides to come back for his senior year. Led by Isiah William, Rashard Mendenhall, Rejus Benn...Illinois' offense could be scary good. That game against Penn State is going to be great.

No problem now that you have told me you did go to school there. I have big issues with people going to the mat for a college team when they never enrolled and attended a class. I am like you in every way you speak. I bleed Crimson and Gray, and am proud of my education at Washington State and the Pac 10. So now that have you cleared it up, my hats off to you, bud. I totally understand man and I agree with you 100%. I get too passionate about it but thats the fan in us. I didnt know you went to Washington State, thats awesome! My college years were the best times I can remember and how I wish could go back to those years. Even if I decided to pursue another degree today it wouldnt be the same as those carefree days in the late 80's. And I really do respect the Pac-10 even though I talk a little smack about it. Its a top conference with great teams. And to be honest, the head to head matchups between the Pac 10 and the SEC have gone your way lately. I too hate Alabama, they are my least favorite SEC team. Nick Saban is a piece of crap. What he did to the Dolphins with all the lies is something many wont forget and it blemished his career. I'm ecstatic that hes falling flat on his face right now. But I do believe he will get them back up very soon because he wins every where he goes, at least in college. By the way, I like the QB you have at Wash St, Alex Brink. If he had a little better protection from the O-Line I believe he would have stellar numbers. Too many sacks though. And Illinois fans-your QB is awesome. If UF does end up playing them in a Bowl we will have to find a way to contain "The Juice".

He is the all time leader at WSU, but he did stay 4 years and the rest of the good QB's left after 2 or 3 yrs.

Now that's an argument. WSU v UF regarding QB's. Hmm

Bro, I know those same difficulties which is why I had to buckle down and get thru the best I could which meant very little parties and skipping class(except for football weekends  ) We will leave for God's country Friday afternoon and stay with family overnight in Ocala. I hope we make a huge statement with this game and Tebow erases all doubt for the Heisman. Enjoy the game man!
