Just had to get that off my chest. Whoever listened to that final mix and said "yeah that sounds good" should have been shot.

So I can get a comparison (based on the mp3s I have), dare to compare Generations production to Styx's Cyclorama?

You have got to be kidding me. Cyclorama sounds absolutely incredible compared to Generations. Generations sounds like it was recorded through a tin can hooked up to a recorder with a piece of string. It's HORRIBLE.
And, yes, Arrival is bassy...I mentioned that on BT when it was first released. AllienC replied and made it seem like that it is that way intentionaly.

I thought "Arrival" sounded way too bassy when "Higher Place" kicked in. I originally had it from the bootleg that circulated the Net before its release, and just thought it was bad quality -- then I get the CD and it sounded the same. Sounded like a cassette tape that you've left in a hot car for a week.

Another album I love, but is marred by too much bass, is Rush's "Vapor Trails".

I never thought "Generations" sounded bad at all -- maybe not the best, but not bad by any means.
