Rock Stars and Video Games - They Just Don't Mix

Neal really does look annoyed beyond belief at the mention of Steve Perry, LOL.

We are all familiar with Michael Jackson’s nightmare inducing Moonwalker video game from our childhood (Annie are you okay?). We remember with astonishment the first time we walked into a video arcade and saw Aerosmith’s Revolution X, and actually blushed in embarrassment for them. But how many of you can actually say that in 1983, that you pumped quarters into Journey’s game from Bally/Midway? How many of you bought the Atari 2600 versionof Journey’s Escape? To be honest with you folks, I have never played any of these games, and I remember them with much humor thinking to myself, “Good God, what’s next?” Yes, even at 10-years old, I thought a Journey video game was a very bad idea. Well, thanks to MTV, these games have surfaced in an all new video that should produce a few laughs. We have posted the Moonwalker video for your vomit inducing pleasure in the past , but this one just takes the cake. Not only does it include a clip from said video, but it also has Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler talking about kids getting bald spots on their heads from virtual reality games. Okaaaaay. I thought he stopped doing drugs back in the mid-eighties? Guess he has some aftereffects still lingering from his days as a drug addled maniac. Aside form this though, the Journey clip is the highlight of the video. You get to see Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain in their full-feathered-hair glory, trying to sound intelligent whne talking about a video game. Watch, when Jonathan mentions Steve Perry during the interview and Neal sort of rolls his eyes and looks a bit bitchy.

I will cease with my nonsensical ramblings and just let you watch the video - but afterwards, get down on your knees and thank the gaming gods above that while we still have utter trash being released as games these days, the trash smells much better than it used to.

Yeah...

If there was a thought bubble over his head, it would say something like:

"Oh Holy JEEZ....Jon and I have an interview BY OURSELVES...and he goes and brings up Steve!"

They should've talked about the arcade game, I wasted over $100.00 on the game at Circus Circus in Vegas, when I found it...Circa 1987

And, any band that is not in either Guitar Hero or Rock Band are deserving of being remembered for their crappy games from Bally and Atari from back in 1983.

Definitely agree with that, Nora. It looked like they even cut away from them to show the game because Neal was about to start rolling his eyes. LOL!

The arcade game was cheesy but the challenge of making the cassette play was enough for me.

I think the song that got played was from Escape even though the graphics were Frontiers. Too far back to remember.
