Me, too. However, I had no idea they were Australian. Ya learn something new every day around here.

The original band all are....this assclown isn't. Go search out BSG - that's the original band's new name after this guy won the right to use the name several years back.

That's just wrong. Most people who listened to the original lineup would buy the CD based on the band name, not even knowing it's not the real LRB! I'm glad this was brought to our attention on here.

That's basically the same shit with Journey. They can do whatever they want, but it all comes down to the listeners ignorance. They buy the name.

See there...

I try to post something that's got a feel-good sound and spread the holiday cheer, and we're now band bashing and disputing a band's legal incarnations... Can't anything just be taken at face value here? All I was saying is that this band just released a Christmas cd!!! Thought SOMEONE here might enjoy it. I fucking give up!!!

No hate here at you Jim....just that LRB is not really LRB. Just a one time guitarist for them in the late 80s.

Glad to hear Andrew,

I thought you were pissed off at me! I didn't know if I did or said something to offend you, but I didn't know what it could have been. Sorry for the bitching, this place has just been bumming me out lately. Nothing to do with you, but I guess with the lack of Journey news...people are just getting on eachothers nerves. Peace!

I know you clean it up, or put a stop to the racist comments when they happen, but the overall feel in here has changed. I love your site, and I personally thank you for all you do. I just feel like people in here have changed a LOT the last few months! Maybe it will all settle down once Journey gets back out on the road? I sure hope so...

Weird...I was having a conversation at work today about this band after a LRB song played on the radio. Thanks for the info on the latest incarnation of the band. Sort of reminds me of the same situation with the Guess Who, as the bassist and fat drummer are running the band these days under the disguise of "The Guess Who", while Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman (both the heart and souls of that band) can't use the name anymore. Bad example (apples to oranges...but I'm loaded, so I care not) ;)

LRB 2007 has two longtime members who joined in the early 80's:

Guitarist Stephen Housden owns the name and has 27 years in the band, but is taking a break from touring.

Wayne Nelson is their lead singer/bassist. He sang on two of the bands biggest hits, "The Night Owls" and "Take It Easy On Me", and has also been with LRB for 27 years.

Members since 1981, Housden and Nelson each have more years in Little River Band than any other member, original or replacement.

Like many other bands, this band has simply evolved into it's current incarnation. Steve and Wayne carried the band on, and I applaud them. The other guys (no pun intended) all quit. As each member left the corporation of Shorrock, Goble, Pellicci, Housden & Nelson), they SOLD THEIR INTEREST in LRB. Nelson quit, then returned, leaving Housden as the owner.

Why should Housden all of sudden give up what they have worked so hard for for the past 27 years? LRB pulls in around 1.5 million a year for just 6-8 months of touring.

I saw the Housden/Nelson version of the band a few years back, and they put on one of the most professional sounding shows I've ever heard. The harmonies were spot on and the musicianship was top-notch. Kevin Murphy is one of the best drummers I've seen live, and I've seen many. The crowd loved them, too.

No disrespect to Glenn and Graham, but they should have thought about the consequences of selling the band's name. At least they sold it to a longtime member who obviously cared enough about the band to keep it going.

I know...I have been on here for years! Maybe not posting the whole time, but I've been on this board for probably 4 years now religously. I like a lot of the people on here. I don't have any beef with the name. As I've said, I'll support Journey no matter who they have on vocals as long as they keep their signature sound. It's when they quit sounding like Journey that they can kiss my ass!!!

Uh, no it's not the same as Journey.

It would be as if Neal and Ross quit the band and Jonathan hired replacements for them as well...and continued on...and bought the rights to the name from everybody.

Then, Perry, Neal, and Gregg Rolie got together and decided to do a tour...but, Jonathan sued them because they had "Formerly of the band Journey!" in their advertising....and WON, several times.

THAT is LRB's situation.

No, Housden gets crap because he sued the band for saying "Former voices of Little River Band" in their advertising. BSG never tried to "be" LRB...all they were doing is pointing to their heritage, were sued over it, and lost.

Take something at face value? Errr.... do you remember that you're in a forum of a big name band that has had three singer changes in the past decade? We've been served Kool Aid too many times around here.

How would you feel if you bought a Rolling Stones Christmas album that didn't have Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, or Charlie Watts on it? DOH!!

Face value? No thanks. I'd rather know what I'm paying for.

I am not judging the current version of LRB by saying this, I'm just saying that no one should have to take anything musically at face value. Music should be valued for what it is: music. It's taken at ear value.

When Van Halen changed lead singers, a lot of Van Halen fans wouldn't take the band at face value anymore, because they had a different singer and a different sound. Some old school Van Halen fans liked the new version, and some didn't. However, the new version won their audiences over with the new sound. When Van Halen tried this again with a third singer, it didn't work at all. Should the Van Halen fans have been forced to take singer #2 or singer #3 at face value? Likewise, should LRB fans just take the new version of LRB at face value? How about the next version of Journey? Should Journey fans be expected to take the next version of Journey at face value?

I think that if you like the music, then buy it. If you don't like it, there is no shame.

You misunderstood what I was trying to say...I'm not saying you should just buy this cd with blind faith because of the name on the cd. I wasn't saying you should buy this cd at all!! All I was saying was there was a link to go check out the new Christmas album!!! That's it. People in here started bickering, and ALL I was trying to do was spread some holiday cheer. If you don't like it (Here's a novel idea) DON'T FUCKING BUY IT! If you're so soured by Journey's "Kool Aid", why not leave the forum? If I don't like something, I usually AVOID it. Just a thought!

You're welcome Real rock fan! I sure however, that you've just opened another can of worms by mentioning the "Back catalogue"! LOL!!! They'll inform you that the current singer of "The Little River Band" only sang on two of their hits! I just thought the songs sounded good and people here might enjoy them. Birtles had already left the band, leaving Shorrock, Goble, Pellicci, Housden & Nelson as the partners.

I will say this - the re-recorded versions of the classics that the Housden lineup did relly sucked. Good musicians, but really bad arrangements.

I will probably order the BSG DVD, the clips sounded great.

You know, for someone who insists Journey has "Handed them Kool-aid" too many times, yet continues to post on a website based around and for Journey...I think you're the one who needs some meds! LOL!!! Why would you come here daily, if you really don't have faith, or love for Journey anymore? Will you be at their next concert that comes your way? Will you buy their next cd? If you've answered no to one or both of those questions, maybe YOU should take some time off of this forum.

As for myself, as long as I'm a Journey fan (And Andrew doesn't KICK me out of here), I'll always be on the forum. I love Journey music...always have...always will! I've never had a beef with you Voyager, but (AGAIN) all I did was put the word out that a great band put a Christmas album. I even said in the post it was one of a couple of incarnations of the band. That's ALL I was saying...If you're a fan-go check it out...If not-don't worry about it. That simple!

Hey Voyager, Jim's a cool guy & he's just trying to give us all something to talk about until Journey gives us news. At least Jim is starting interesting topics & not just rehashing the same old stuff over & over. He's also a really good musician so he can give us a different perspective from that angle. You're right about one thing though..I do take people too seriously sometimes! Sorry I blew up about it. I was just frustrated! I've been working a LOT on music the last few weeks, and between that, the holidays, and work, I guess you just caught me at the wrong time. I appologize!

For what it's worth, I'm getting ready to post a new version of one of my originals on my myspace if you're interested in checking it out. BTW, I'm the ONLY member (past or present) LOL!!! other than myself, the only person you'll herar in my songs are other lead vocalists (I suck on leads!!!) The new song I'm going to post on there is a song called "If you want". It's just a rough draft...I'll have the better version tomorrow, but just couldn't wait to post it!

I'm working with Alex Scott from Italy on a few of these songs...He's got an awesome voice, and I can't wait for you all to hear the final product. He also sang on "Rumor's out" right now, he can only record mono panned to one side (Sorry). I'll have the new song up in just a few. Here's the link...

My band opened for LRB in 2004 at a local gig. They sounded great to me then... I'm not sure if it was the old or new version of the band.

That was the newer (Housden's) LRB. He's been in charge since sometime in the 90s.
