Another try for a Perry Duet????

We Are the Children
Alison Krauss to team with new duet partners, help fund health care for kids
Now that bluegrass goddess Alison Krauss has the attention of the music world, thanks to her hit duet album with Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant, Raising Sand, she is the darling of old rock stars seeking to catch some of her luster. Apparently, aging frontmen from once-successful bands are contacting her daily, seeking to work with her on a duet album.

“She’s heard from a bunch of them,” says a source in Krauss’ management, ticking down the list: “Geddy Lee from Rush, Steve Perry from Journey, Johnny Rotten, one of those guys from Three Dog Night, I can’t remember which one—even Jello Biafra, that guy from the Dead Kennedys.”

As it happens, some of these improbable musical pairings may actually take place. Krauss has been approached to organize a benefit concert for a new state children’s insurance program, and is reportedly considering using the show as an audition for some of these prospective recording partners.

Since President Bush vetoed additional funding for the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (S-CHIP), the state of Tennessee has set a goal for state funding of the program, independent of federal dollars. That program, the Children’s Strategic Health Insurance of Tennessee (C-SHIT), seeks more than $5 million in funding for the medical care of the state’s children. The nascent program’s slogan, “If they won’t give us S-CHIP, we’ll give them C-SHIT,” will soon be on fund-raising billboards all over the state.

If Krauss takes on the benefit, she will headline the “Music for C-SHIT” concert at the Sommet Center (part of a statewide telethon to raise money for the new program) and, sources say, would likely invite several of her prospective duet partners to the stage. One music insider says he can’t wait: “Alison Krauss performing with Johnny Rotten—I think C-SHIT could be fully funded from that alone. Hell, if she’d throw in Roger Daltrey, she could probably raise enough to keep hockey here, too.”

Wonder what the response was?

I love to listen to Alison Krauss. Love her singing. I agree with everyone the pairing her with Steve would be a great pairing. I do hope when he was asked was yes. Just have to wait and see I guess.

Was I wrong that I read this as a joke? The Fabricator? C-SHIT? Sounds like a parody to me. But I know nothing about that resource, so...

Now that I have spent my time reading up on SCHIP and the issues there, think there is a bit of everything in this article. (clever) As for whether the part of Steve Perry and Krause having any conversation? Who knows? Might as well pull the plug

Okay - I googled and far as I can tell there is no such organization as "Children's Strategic Health Insurance of Tennessee". And you know, the way it's worded, like a suble version on the Onion... look where it talks about the artists... "one of those guys from Three Dog Night, I can’t remember which one..." No one being serious would write that.

I think we been had and we fell for it. Damn it, from now on, I'm looking these things up before I hit reply. Or maybe it would help if those reading stuff like that would check it out before floating the rumor? LOL!! :D

Well, according to the article, sounds like Perry contacted her. That's huge. Maybe our boy might want to sing again after all. I hope he puts out a full album someday. Hopefully, Krauss didn't turn Perry down.

I wonder what Reba McEntire is thinking about this? lol...

It would behoove everyone to realize off that bat that I'm always right, but welcome aboard anyway. LOL! j/k I hate hate hate hate falling for shit like that because I know that I SHOULD know better to look into those kinds of things before believing them. Especially when the words "Steve" and "Perry" appear in them. You'd think we would learn by now...esp. after falling for every single one of Ed's things  - but at least his are funny.

Chuck Negrone 3 Dog Night

I had the fun of hanging out with Chuck and friends three times back in 1995 -1996 - it's a long story, but he was my favorite singer my entire life ( I liked Steve Perry because he reminded me of Chuck!) and when he was putting out a CD in the mid-1990s, I found his message board on AOL. He thought no one would remember him and I was the second person to post on his board! Got to meet him, his band, his family, went out to dinner and drove with him and his fan club president to an interview, breakfast....oh man, I was thrilled.

He was handsome, charming and gave great hugs! :D Fun, fun times!

Oh, and at the time, he was 55. He had major addiction issues (had been clean for seven years at the time, I believe) and had not sung for at least two decades. His voice was pristine. He hit the high notes just like he did in 1970. Amazing.

Well, aside from the fact that this whole thing is likely a hoax, lol... Let's assume it's a true story for a moment and I'll address your comment.

Kraus worked with Robert Plant, someone who's work she probably respects. Admires even. Who's to say she thinks of Steve Perry in the same light? Fans aside, don't forget that Journey have never been truly accepted by the music industry at large.

I've run into Chuck quite a few times.
He seems like a very nice guy.
Also much taller than I imagined & he's gotten into real good shape lately.

Well, as much as I would like to hear Ms. Krauss and Mr. P sing, I think this story is a farce.

SP is NOT with Journey, remember? He WAS but the guy said: "Steve Perry OF Journey". That is one clue this story is garbage.

I must say Allison would be a better choice than Reba.

I think Perry would have accepted Reba except he had a conflict. She explained that on Larry King. Chuck Negron was booted out of 3 Dog Night yrs ago. 3 Dog Night is the other 2 now. Chuck has a web site with pics and info annd takes bookings.

Saying Steve Perry of Journey doesn't mean he's still with the band, it's just the reference point for his name recognition. It's the same thing as saying Lou Graham of Foreigner or Dennis DeYoung of Styx. Steve Perry is and always will be known as Journey's lead singer. It's how he got his start, how he got his fame.

The real giveaway that this story is garbage is when they said "JOHNNY ROTTEN" was looking to do a duet. Johnny Rotten??? Like he'd associate himself with Allison Krauss??
