Probably everyone already saw this....

But cool nevertheless.

There are 13 songs of the NY gig in 1994 on YouTube. Although SP sings some notes differently I don't have the idea that his voice was
really that much weaker than before. His moves are a little less slick, which might be explained if he indeed had a new hip placed.

It's funny though, Journey is looking for a SP sound alike and he toured with a Neal Schon sound alike....

No his moves are less slick because he was 45. The hip thing wasn't until 4 years after this show.

I loved his moves on that tour & his hair & just everything about him. That's the only time I saw him live & I'll never ever forget it. Those were the 2 best concerts I've ever been to in my life.

those were excellent shows on a very small/simple stage. not the huge bombastic jrny stages, but it was still great.
i'd pay good money to follow him around the country watching shows like this again. i'd prefer it to be with neal, but i'd take another solo tour with great pleasure

Uh, no. Not necessarily. According to his explanation, the hip thing popped up in '96, two years after that show. Everyone knows the whole Journey/Perry/surgery/doesn't want to tour/let's get Augeri business was long after that 1994 tour. Just because he's not running around with his ass on fire like it was 1981 again is not indicitive of anything specific, other than maybe the fact that he just plain old was not 30 years old anymore.

Not necessarily. I'm sure that there are people who have degenerative joint problems that weren't diagnosed until they actually injured the joint.

I sincerely doubt that he would lie about something like this. If he fell during a cllimb or a hike the fall could have exacerbated the disease leading to more damage and eventually the operation. Lora has confirmed the operation. I just dont understand why some people find this to be all a big charade.

Because that was one of the things they came up with in 1997 to justify Frig and Fro dumping Steve. They've spouted it ever since to the point where some of them have actually come to believe it, and now they couldn't admit they were wrong even if they saw the scar. They'd say Steve cut himself.

some information

Postby CatEyes » Sun Nov 25, 2007 9:44 am

feel free to ignore it

There is a disease called avascular necrosis

it mostly effects hips but can also effect sholders and knees

The two most common causes are use of steroids (not anabolics like athletes use - but corticosteroids such as prednisone) and alcoholism - these can be separate issues however, combined, they can be powerful.

If the bone and joint start to break down, there may be severe pain and a person may not be able to use the joint. For instance, if a patient has osteonecrosis [avascular necrosis] in the hip, they may not be able to walk. The time from the start of symptoms to losing use of the joint can range from months to more than a year.

We are not talking the neccessity of huge amounts of prednisone - some patients have only used it once - however, almost all patients treated for avascular necrosis (up to and including hip surgery) have been treated with steroids at some point in their lives.

Perry often suffered from bronchitis and would have been treated with steroids

Steroids are an anti-inflammatory and would have also been used to treat swollen vocal cords.

Perry has also been known to enjoy alcohol in the past.

A damaged hip joint may have caused the fall.

For reference:

Sorry, there are no boots of this and it probably will not appear on youtube.

It doesn't mean I made it up.

Please argue among yourselves.

Works for me! He was very sick with pneumonia/respiratory illnesses during the 1994-1995 Strange Medicine tour and was even hospitalized. Steroids would have been a part of any bronchitis or asthmatic bronchitis as they are strong anti-inflammatory medication.

Man... leave the dude alone, if you really need someone to blame for the joke journey has become than look no further than N. Schon and J. Cain. They didn't want to wait... if you don't believe it ask yourself how they treated augeri when he was obviously ill and needed to go off the road for awhile. They didn't want to wait... too much money on the table for the greedy little f...s
