Little River band releases new Christmas cd!!!

I was a big LRB fan back in the day. I was also pissed when I found out that Beeb Birtles & company weren't in the band anymore...but I have to admit, The Night Owl was definitely my favorite album by them. Wow now I'm torn...E

I've seen the renegade LRB. They weren't bad, I have to admit. It was a free show. Just sayin'...

I'd be very interested in the BSG DVD though of course.

Overall, there's some great music to be heard from both bands! It's a shame that bands have differences and go their "Separate ways" (sorry, I HAD to go there!), but sometimes we all benefit from having more then one outlet to go for their music! Several artists have gone out on their own and released some great albums/tunes. Unfortunately, most never quite have the same magic as they had as an original group.

Think of the difficulties of making a marriage work...That's just with one other person. Now, imagine a band as 5 or 6 marriages that you have to juggle at the same time!!! It can be a pain in the ass to get 5 or 6 musicians to agree on ANYTHING! LOL!!!

For what it's worth, I'm getting ready to post a new version of one of my originals on my myspace if you're interested in checking it out. BTW, I'm the ONLY member (past or present) LOL!!! other than myself, the only person you'll herar in my songs are other lead vocalists (I suck on leads!!!) The new song I'm going to post on there is a song called "If you want". It's just a rough draft...I'll have the better version tomorrow, but just couldn't wait to post it!

I'm working with Alex Scott from Italy on a few of these songs...He's got an awesome voice, and I can't wait for you all to hear the final product. He also sang on "Rumor's out" right now, he can only record mono panned to one side (Sorry). I'll have the new song up in just a few. Here's the link...

Thanks Rick! I've got a DIGI003 and Pro Tools. That seems to be that recording standard nowadays. I'd love to trade tracks with anyone here, especially Jim.... he is wicked on keys. I am best at drums, bass, and guitar. Vocals and keys are not my strength, but I can do them. It sounds like he has a great vocalist, so that's covered.

Those damn Pro Tools WAV files can get huge... but I've got a T1 connection so it's no big deal.

Damn dude, you've got the tools. That T1 must be costing you a nice shiny penny. How big are those wav's anyway?

The WAV files are about 45MB x the number of tracks (up to 24). The T1 is paid for by my Internet software business, so it's all good.

Yeah, that can get big. If you do use 24 tracks, that gets it over a gig. You'd need a T1 for that to be efficient. It wouldn't be undoable for someone with a regular broad band connection if you sent it and they downloaded it while they were at work or asleep, but any changes would be many hours back and forth.

That's just wrong. Most people who listened to the original lineup would buy the CD based on the band name, not even knowing it's not the real LRB! I'm glad this was brought to our attention on here.

That's basically the same shit with Journey. They can do whatever they want, but it all comes down to the listeners ignorance. They buy the name.

You can bet the ranch that Schon, Cain, & Azoff have made this exact comment a thousand times. And it's exactly why they can do whatever they want today...any town, any fairground.

I appreciate it! I checked out your tunes too! I really liked "Lake side Drive". Reminds me of the Cars! Do you actually play the drums on your track, or do you use drumming software? I'm too lazy to learn how to program my own drums, and I manually play every beat on my keys. I use 3 or 4 tracks for my drums. I also play all the guitars as well as leads on my keyboards. My boards have a great sound, and a lot of guitarists actually think they're hearing the real thing! LOL!!!

I've enjoyed the new stuff from the Housden/Nelson led version of the band but do lament the fact that the others unwisely gave up their rights to the name. I remember hearing similar tales of woe, including the story of the Four Aces who all drifted away from the group one by one only to return a decade later and sue the replacement guys. Eventually an agreement was reached where they could tour as the Original Four Aces as long as they gave a percentage of their earnings to the replacement group. They eventually got tired of of doing this(giving them that chunk of their earnings) and disbanded, leaving only the replacemengroup.

I saw them a couple times after Shorock left, and Steve Wade replaced him. He is an awesome singer...capable of being in Journey, or any other heavily vocal band. I was looking forward to a new LRB album with him singing...But, it never happen. After another round of lineup changes, I just didn't care any longer. Kinda like another band we are all here for.

Then came all of the BS of suing BSG. If Neal is an ass for what he did for what he did to Journey...Housden is the huge pimple that needs to be popped.

Just teasing you man. We're all good. Even though it sounds like I'm really serious when I post, I'm not. Just a passionate Journey fan like yourself.

Glen left in the 80's also and was replaced with John Farnham.

I saw LRB w/Steve Wade around 2000. Drummer was Kevin Murphy. Excellent show.

That's true. Shorrock left orginally in February 1982 since the others wanted a change. They wanted to bring in a new guy and experiment with other styles and interpretations. They weren't always happy with the way Glenn did their songs. But Beeb Birtles never thought John Farnham was the right guy. He grew more unhappier with things. Finally, after they finished a U. S. tour in October 1983, Farnham spoke up and said, "If you're so unhappy, Beeb, maybe you should go." Beeb agreed and said it was like a huge weight had been lifted from him. He was glad John had the guts to speak up.

Derek Pellici left in early 1984 as he was not thrilled with the changeover to a more harder Progressive rock style. When the new direction likewise turned off their already dwindling following, Farnham left in 1986 for a hugely successful solo career.
Shorrock & Pellici returned in 1987. But one by one they all quit again. Goble stopped touring with them in 1989 and left for good by 1992. Shorrock & Wayne Nelson both left in 1996. Pellici departed by early 1998. Steve Wade was an awesome singer who fronted them from 1996 to early 2000. After Wade left Wayne Nelson(who'd come back in early 1999) took over most the lead singing.

I've seen Brian Wilson a half dozen times in the last few years, but would never even consider going to a concert by the Mike Love Band aka The Beach Boys.

Same holds true for the band calling itself the Little River Band. Wouldn't walk across an empty room for that, although I sure wish Birtles Shorrock & Goble would come here to the states for a tour.

I exchanged several emails with Beeb back at the beginning of 2004, when a much-anticipated BSG club show here in San Diego was abruptly canceled. I was curious why, and contacted him through his website hoping for an answer..

He replied that same day, saying that the three of them were in negotiations at the time to go out on a "package tour" in the U.S. with a couple of other mellow classic rock bands of their era, but that they were dropped because of their inability to use the LRB name.

Shame they signed those rights away...the Full Circle CD set is phenomenal. Would have loved to have seen that tour materialize...

I believe they were supposed to tour with Chicago at that time. THAT would have been an awesome show.

Again, they did not want to tour as LRB...but only use "Formerly of Little River Band" in their advertising. Housden even sued over the cover of the "Full Circle" CD/DVD because of the words on the marquee in the picture....because those words can not be so promonately displayed.

And, BTW, if you like Steve Wade, you should check out Goble's "Nautilus" CD....awesome stuff...

Beckett took over after Goble stopped touring with the band in 1989. I always enjoyed seeing him with them and hearing Baby Come Back. Beckett was there until the end of 1997.
