Just posted a new Mid-tempo Rocker on Myspace!!!

Postby G.I.Jim » Sun Nov 25, 2007 2:25 pm

Hey everyone,

I just posted a brand new mid-tempo Rocker (Definitely melodic rock!!!) on my myspace. Several of you have heard my stuff before, but this is something new! I did a rough recording of all the vocals in about an hour tonight, so I'll definitely have to go back in and smooth some parts out! LOL!!! As it is, it's definitely presentable, and I wanted to get your opinions on it. Definitely let me know what you think, and again...I'm always up for constructive criticism! Hope you enjoy. This stuff is definitely coming along quickly...

Go to www.myspace.com/jimrykbost to check out the new song "Long Night".

Rick, I sent this song to my 65 year old Dad (minus the vocals) a couple of days ago, and he said "That's not my kind of music, I'll let someone else be the judge", and tonight he just emailed me and said "I love this song, can you send me the lyrics"! LOL!!! How funny is that???

Good stuff, Jim! Reminded me of Tony Harnell when you hit the high notes!

Thank you guys! I really appreciate it! Rip, I think you're think of my "Rumor's out" song. That's Alex Mark Scott hitting those high notes! He sang that one and "If you want". He's got a killer voice. I may have some more stuff back from him today! I recorded all the vocals on "Long night" (about 12 tracks!) in about an hour last night, so I'll definitely go in there and spend more time on it to get it just right. Thanks again!

Ahh, my mistake -- that was the song I listened to. All of your stuff is very good, Jim! Rock on!

Thanks again! It seems like most of my songs come pretty quickly. I spend most of my time trying to find a subject to sing about! LOL!!! Usually, all of my songs are written (Roughly) in a day or so. The fastest song I ever wrote was "Angel". I wrote it for my Uncle who was dying from cancer. I wrote/recorded/finished the song in less then 4 hours! It's not normally that quick though!

If you've checked out my Myspace, I put a different version of "Long night" on there then what was on there last night. The 1st version was the 1st half of the song. I liked the 2nd half better, so I put that up there instead! I'll be throwing new stuff up there constantly, and changing it up. Thank everyone for the comments!!!

Thanks Bobby! I just posted a MUCH better version of "If you want" and it's a lot longer clip. I should have "Long Night" in a few days up there with Alex on vocals as well. I can sing back-up, but that's about it! I hate hearing myself on lead, but I record the leads so people like Alex can take what I've done and use it as a vocal guide. The song should kick-ass once he gets done with it. I'll keep you posted!

Thank you! I really appreciate the support I've been getting from all of you, and I put a little plug on my site for Melodicrock! Hope Andrew doesn't mind! I hit the "Over 1000 songs played" mark today, so now I can have 6 songs up there! I've put new versions of "If you want", and "Long Night" on there tonight, as well as added a couple of older tunes that are more Country than "Melodic rock". Thanks again for the support!!!

Ha, ha, my husband loves your music. That's saying something because he usually is over there fussing at me to "please turn that down".

Thanks again! I like so many different styles of music, but melodic rock is by far my favorite! I've recorded a country album, a hard rock song with "Big T" from Crossfade, and had 3 songs hit the airwaves so far! I'm just excited to see where this all goes. Honestly, I'm not interested in touring. I'd just like to find a record label that's interested in buying my stuff for their artists. I already have a great career, I just do this for fun and because of my love for the music! I really can't tell you all thank you enough. Hopefully you'll be hearing more tunes soon!

Really nice Jim. Good stuff. I don't like country but even the country-flavored one was nice. I am so jealous of people who can write like this. I suck! I have always wanted to write & tried to write but what comes out is utter crud. I was very complimented last nite when the band told me they've rehearsed one of my songs & they did it & actually made it sound like a much better song. Of course, even that song is a piece of crap compared to urs. I swear this is a gift from God u have to be able to write & make it touch so many people. Dont take that for granted!

BTW dont slam ur voice like that. I hear some good things in it & it's very soft & sweet, romantic in a way. U feel the songs & that's really important as it comes across. If u trained ur voice, u would improve a lot. I sang a bit last nite for the first time in absolutely ages & I was so out of practice. It takes so much work to keep the voice in shape.

Thanks so much for sharing all this w/us.

Bobby is an awesome singer/songwriter! He and I have been chatting about doing a collaberation, so maybe you'll hear something from that soon? I love his duet on his Myspace! We'll definitely keep you posted if any progress comes out of it.

He's got some pretty high vocals, so I'll have to change my writing style a little, but I've got so many ideas that are unfinished, and he has a lot of tunes as well! Together, I'm sure we could do an entire album in no time! LOL!!! I bet I've got 80 or 100 unfinished songs! I also have a lot of "Finished" songs. They just need to be re-recorded and have someone ELSE sing lead! Maybe some of these will see the light of day soon.

The hardest part for me is finding a guitarist who can commit to working on stuff! I record all of the leads myself, but I can't duplicate that 80's "Chuggin' guitar" sound on my keyboards. A lot of my ideas are very guitar driven, but without a guitarist, they're just ideas. Guitarists are hard to come by here for some reason! Maybe Bobby has some connections in Nashville we can hook up with? We'll see!
