Dang, I'm so long overdue for learning how to use PhotoShop. Had someone lined up to teach me, but it fell thru. I'll be wreaking HUGE havoc once I get those skills. :P

Actually Rhi is right, it is the shadow from his hand/mic. When I first saw the pic I thought it was sweat. :P The lighting is bad in that pic.

The only other option would be birthmark, and I'm loon enough to know it ain't that. (Thank you bare chested shots via open jackets of the Departure tour.)

Yes, the lighting is horrible Deb. His hands look dirty, his chest looks diseased, and is that a bat in the cave, too? Kidding...

Hating Journey for Open Arms is like hating VH for Jump. Every band has its cheesy tunes, but they always seem to be the biggest hits. Tells you more about the public than it does about the bands.

What about GnR's Sweet Child 'O Mine, or Zepp's Stairway to Heaven ?
Songs don't have to be slow to be ballads.
I always thought the definition of a ballad had more to do with lyrical direction (& sappiness) than the tempo of the song.

Neither of those two songs are ballads, either. Besides that, even the lyrical content of DSB doesn't qualify it for being a ballad.

While I agree with you on DSB and Sweet Child O mine, I would have to disagree on Stairway to heaven,,,, I think that one DOES qualify as a ballad. I'd like to know why you think its NOT a ballad :)

Here's a definition of a ballad:
A ballad is a narrative poem, usually set to music; thus, it often is a story told in a song. Any story form may be told as a ballad, such as historical accounts or fairy tales in verse form. It usually has foreshortened, alternating four stress lines ("ballad meter") and simple repeating rhymes, often with a refrain.

I am aware of the classical definition of a ballad. However, over the last 20 years or so, the word "ballad" has come to mean pretty much the same thing as a slow-paced love song. I consider "Stairway to Heaven" to be more of a progressive rock song.

Slow paced , Yes,,,, but not all ballads are love songs,,, well at least not in my opinion.
So as an example you dont think Scorpions "Winds of Change" is a ballad? Its not a love song,,,

When u think about it, Open Arms is a lot better & even marginally cooler than many other bands' cheesy tunes. Think about Extreme's "More Than Words" or Mr. Big's "To Be With You" for example.

Someone didnt think so, did u see this comment there:

"ohhhh eric and nelson twins are old how sad.....
back those days they were so young and handsome but now theyre totally different"

someone gave that person a snappy comeback:

"Ow you poor soul...Lets see how you look in 30years ok?"

I must be getting old. Eric still looks young to me. But I dont care what u say. He did look better w/long hair.
