Dear Mr. Azoff,

I know you wield a wealth of power in the music industry, and do realize you are quite the thinker. Which ironically got me thinking. I find it absolutely appalling that you would concoct up the idea, to have the lead singer of a rock/pop band go on stage in front of 5-10 thousand people and mime/lip sync his way through a show. I also find it amazing, utterly amazing, that you were able to get all five band members to go along with the idea, as well as the sound technician, and the boys in the truck. It astounds me, how such a ballsy, yet risky move by a veteran manager could be undertaken. See, I know this was your idea. I also know that you thought if Madonna and Britney could pull off such a feat, why can't American rock act Journey? Well sir, you pulled it off....sort of. There were a couple of fans, a couple of loudmouths and some real good ears that exposed your gimmick. You got your hand caught in the cookie jar. However, not to worry, you would never take the fall. You are hidden behind a big desk and a rich automobile. It was a genius plan. If it worked which it almost did, you could defraud thousands and thousands of fans of their hard earned dollars, by putting on a lipped show. The signs outside the venues were supposed to say, "Tonight, Live--Journey." Haha, Hell, the fans won't know what is really happening. Hahaha. Well guess what old man? Some fans did find out and a few of them really got down to business and discovered the intricate details of this master plan gone awry. Still, your savvy business dealings and smooth glossing over the fact bullshit practices managed to make the singer out to be the scapegoat. This mechanism was in place when the plan was conceived. So let's recap. You knowingly planned out a lipped tour, and then built in an escape hatch, where by the "guilty" singer and no one else, would fall. Even though the bassist, drummer, keyboard player and yes, lead guitarist all knew, they were never in danger of suffering a fall. One fan, some say an obsessed fan, fel for it hook line and sinker. He was loud and boisterous and hung the lead singer in public; in front of thousands and potentially millions of fans via the world wide web. You must of loved that, eh? Here you had a fan, a passionate loving fan, doing your dirty work for you, and taking the heat off the crime. Brilliant.

Mr. Azoff, I know that fan in particular, and I wonder if he will let bygones be bygones and revert to a passive stance, or become fueled up again, and spread the evil story? . I would love to know what your comrades in the business think about your business practices and your mangled way of thinking. I would love to hear what Jon Landau (Bruce Springsteen) thinks of this? I wonder aloud if he would be disgusted or possibly, yet highly unlikely, if he would be somewhat understanding, given your singers ailing voice. I also would like to see what Bruce Allen thinks about all this bullshit? Can you see Mr. Allen asking his biggest client, Bryan Adams to lip sync ? I think his client would probably fire him on the spot if asked such a outlandish request. Now I do know it was your idea, but it also takes some shady people to go along with this. I am guessing the four other band members, the one's who were safe from any fallout, are not stand up guys. See, after countless hours of thinking about this crime, I have come to the conclusion that the other four members are just as bad as you Mr Azoff, as well as the sound engineer.

So my lone real question to you sir is this. What would you think, if that overzealous fan with "no life" were to pose this question to others in the industry? Would you deny the unequivocal truth? Deflect it as anonymous web chatter? Would you answer it truthfully? That is a possibility you know. You could come in here and answer with truth; truth with an explanation. Perhaps you were caught in a bad situation and needed an escape? Naw, that wouldn't fly because even when the story broke on a public music message board, you continued to do it, and entered the next tour and the next year doing the exact same thing. To think a few fans were on to you, and you and your people didn't even change the tracked cd! Huh? I mean come on? You had hounds hot on your ass and yet you still went with the same tracked cd? Not to mention, the copied CD was one that was sold as a DVD! Jesus Christ, I thought you were smart..wait, powerful does not necessarily equate to smart does it? You used the DVD to have your lead singer lip sync to. That sir is pretty fucking stupid. And what's even more stupid, is the fact you kept using it the next tour! You know, I have to wonder, will this story ever truly go away? Or will it somehow miraculously make it's way into some significant periodicals and newspapers? The evidence is overwhelming to say the least. I believe the fan who accused you of this crime is confident of his findings.

What's still on many minds is the choices left to the singer. He was stuck in a perilous situation. The fan who exposed this fraud was pretty tough on him, but now, may be softening a bit. What was the lead singers choice? Could he take a moral stand and leave mid tour, thus costing the band millions of lost revenue, of which you sir would be reaping as well. Was he strong armed into going along with the plan, knowing full well, he was the fall guy and would suffer a career ending night sometime soon? This is the question many want to know. The blame on this lead singer may very well be alleviated altogether, and rightfully placed on someone else's shoulders.

I think the point is that it is really Perry's fault. Everybody knows that Perry is in control of the band so everything that has happened since the time he fell off the mountain has really been by HIS design. He's done it all so he could take some time off, have a few surgeries, remaster his old voice a few dozen times, and thank the fans for 'happy birthdays'.

So, he had to get Augeri fired. But, Dean pops up but Perry's plans happened way too fast...So, they had to get JSS in there, and then fire him too...so Perry can come back next year.

But, Azoff is in the way too. Journey needs Herbie back, and Perry knows. So, now Dean is after Azoff, trying to get him fired. Yeah, it's true, Dean is really just Perry's puppet...doing his work for him.

Nat, I think it's reflection. Looking back on what has happened, even in the past year that I've been here. So much has happened. I read some regret in Dean's post. He was brutal to SA. He has said he got sucked in to the whole mess when he became friends with Jeff. We all knew it was wrong how things were handled with laying all that stuff on SA. Anyone with a brain knew that SA couldn't have pulled that ruse off by himself. But we went to those shows anyway. You and Kirk did too. We accepted things because we were so enamoured by what Jeff brought to the band. After Jeff was treated so disrespectfully, we have stepped back and looked at things, the big picture, and were able to acknowlege that the princess and the pea (brain) weren't so innocent as we gave them credit for. But, I think (and it's just my interpretation) what Dean is saying that it goes even further than just Friga & Fro, but all the way to the top. That management facilitated a sham and that, when discovered, they stepped back and left certain individuals floating in the wind. It sucks. It's unethical, and pitiful, and sad. And Azoff SHOULD have to answer for it to those people who have spent lots of money supporting Journey over the past several years.

I would think that not only JSS fans want to call this bunch out, but also SA fans, who are still looking for some vindication for their guy. I don't blame them for that, just as I don't blame Dean for wanting to talk about it, especially given that he played such a huge role in the entire thing.

What else do we have to talk about here? Politics? Religion? This is a Journey board, and certainly for this population TapeGate and the events surrounding it are historical events. It's just those people that are coming in here wanting to pick it apart that will have a problem with it.
