Catchin' Up for Christmas

Postby Rip Rokken » Mon Dec 03, 2007 8:48 am

I started listening to Journey when "Escape" hit, and though I'm familiar with many of their older songs (GH material), I've never really listened to any of the prior albums. Currently, my oldest Journey CD is "Raised on Radio", and I have everything since. I decided if I was going to hang out here, I might as well start knowing what I'm talking about. :P

So I went to Amazon and ordered all the older studio discs, either new or "in new condition" for as little as I could get them. I made out really cheap! :P

The only one I didn't get is "Dream After Dream", and I can't seem to find it anywhere for less than $15 + shipping. What's the deal with this album? Is it extra rare or something, or was the CD only released in Japan?

From my knowledge, Rip, it was only released in Japan ( I found it later, on vinyl, in the US) . It was the soundtrack to a movie of the same name, again only released in Japan. There are only two songs that have lyrics or words in them, one of them being "Little Girl" I do have a copy of it somewhere around here, on cd. :D

its not that rare anymore as it is obscure and music fans not knowing what to do with it .. 2 vocal tracks.. and lots of strange string sounds.. if you have LITTLE GIRL then the rest is not needed .. OH its fun to have on the shelf.. but you will only listen to it once..

Thanks to a benevolent person who pointed me in the right direction, I got to have a listen to this album. You are right on... "Little Girl" is really a gem, but the rest is just soundtrack stuff that means little apart from the film. A nice find, though!

Little Girl is on the Departure reissue now, anyway, so its not rare at all anymore. If you ordered a Departure that isn't the reissue, you can probably get the two bonus tracks (Little Girl and Natural Thing) on iTunes for a buck.

The first track, "Destiny", is pretty good also.

I thought L.G was track 1, or does Destiny roll straight into it?

I just got "Departure", the first of the older Journey discs I ordered in, and have been loving it! I'm really going to enjoy listening to the old stuff. Only beef is, it was listed as "LIKE NEW" condition, and it was anything but! Plays perfectly, though. What a great disc!
