NOPE.
I already have the original recordings, WHY would I want to pay for newer versions that can't possibly be as good as the classic versions? Whoever is managing Journey really needs to pull their head out of their ass. Dumbest idea I've ever heard of.

Imagine the slamming they'd get...
They'd go on the radio to promote it and really, the only question an interviewer could ask would be

"Um... what the f*ck are you guys thinking????"

This is not meant to dis Arnel (or whoever gets the gig), it's just a dumb idea.

If that's the direction they're going in, then they truly are finished with any kind of relevancy as a band. If their new singer is everything they want him to be, then they should be recording NEW stuff.

Journey, wake up. The audience has left. There's no one left in the building. Either move ahead with new material or for God's sake, walk away. You're embarrassing yourselves.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Now, if JSS did a heavy rock cd cover of Journey's tunes, I'd be all over that one. ;) As it is, if they do release the classics re-done, there's been plenty of progress over the years with better production, etc, so I'd like to see what the drums, guitars, keys would sound like. I'd preview before buying and then buy if I like it. Wouldn't surprise me if it comes out with a few originals mixed in with the hits. ;)

There's NO WAY that the drums could sound better than they do on the smitty albums. No way.

No! Never! I don't even care to hear it free. They can Pro-Tools the shit out of it or whatever and it will NEVER be as brilliant as the originals with Steve Perry! I didn't like the idea before when JSS was on board, and I like Jeff...I just think this is SOOOO wrong. I don't give a flying **** if it is what all other bands are doing to get more money...maybe, if they were smart with their money in the first place they wouldn't have to resort to this absurdity. I suppose now we will be hearing DSB on t.v. commercials for Alpo & Depends!

I'll definitely listen... but doubt I'll buy. I'll get some other sap to buy it and then listen to their copy. :P Of course I leave it totally open to the chance that they do something astounding, but do not see that happening. They haven't even released a studio CD with solid production since Perry left.

My intuition pretty much agrees with the poster that said this is only a move to gain more control of the songs, and in that case, I can see why they'd do it. Musical integrity often comes second to issues of money.

Does anybody know for sure this is what Journey is doing??

My answer is NO if they are re-recording the classics, why the hell would you want to do that?? Why the hell would anyone want to hear that?? I didn't like the idea with JSS on board and I sure as shit don't like it now.

Record new material and maybe just maybe I would listen to it... buying anything that these guys put out? Doubtful.

I just read in another thread that this is indeed in the can, a "new" Journey CD of classics butchered by Arnel.... I am gonna hurl!

You have now officially pulverized this once great band into a billion rank smelling pieces of dung beetle.

Yes. Definitely. I care a lot about Journey. I've been a huge fan. Obviously the remaining members are in deep need of cash and self-esteem. We need to pull together.

Have you ever supported a relative in a venture you know is wrong just because you knew the support was what they really needed?

I'm so disgusted with this idea that I have to do my part to help this band recover from it's complete loss of dignity. So I will by 5 copies and send them to starving children in third world countries. Of course, even they will know it's a complete scam, but at least Journey will have a little more money and a little more hope.

If we buy enough, maybe they can move the tour from hired corporate gigs to the small stage at the fair. Then, they can put out another cd where they re-record the re-recorded hits, this time with a country flavor. Then they can make it back to the big stage, just a little farther from the one-legged, bearded, half-man, half-woman show at the circus.

This idea is flat out disgusting. It's a slap in the face to the fans and their very own legacy. I have no problem with bands doing things to earn money - hell, it's a business. But to sell out this blatantly is repulsive.

I suppose Arnel is good. I think they should hang it up rather than move to another singer. I was willing to give JSS a chance (on new material). But even if I looked past that, screw these guys for handing me what you know will be sup-par leftovers and telling me it's all they can do for me right now.

I hate what this band has done and become. Shame on Neal and Jon for letting it get to this. Obviously, I take this personally.

No way, not giving them one more cent.
If one new song makes it to radio play I may consider listening to the album, but only if its new original music.

If they're doing some exclusive deal with WM, then they've probably got guaranteed cash up front...plus residuals on whatever sales. They may have even been paid for their studio time. My gut is that this album will sell. May not fly off the racks like the new Eagles record, but Journey will sell.

Are you living in fantasy land? No record label in their right mind would give Journey a dime to massacre their classics. That would be like paying some fucking Elvis impersonator to-re-record Elvis' classic hits. Plus, you cannot compare Journey to the Eagles because they have their original lead singers. Journey doesn't. I have to disagree with you on this one - I don't think it would sell even 100,000 copies.

The big difference would lie in the fact that by buying Journey's cd, you would support Backstabbers Inc® .

OMG - I cannot believe what I am reading on here. Are you guys all being sarcastic, or are you for real? Did anyone join together and rescue Elvis' band members after he died? Should we have thrown them into a studio with an Elvis impersonator to crank out an album so we could buy it and support their lavish lifestyles?

Journey is not some kind of church that we need to pay tithes to... they are people just like me and you who happened to make some good music with a great singer. Is it our job to make sure they can still pay their alimony payments? I think not.

I for one would not buy another Journey album. I don't care if the guys are panhandling on the fucking street. I've got my life to live, and they have theirs.

Because that was a tribute cd...where this is just yet another attempt by the shitheads in Journey to make another buck.
