When I first read the thread this morning about rerecording the classics I also went into disbelief about this direction. But since I have found out that new material is coming very soon with Arnel and the rerecordings are possibly a promotional thing. With that new knowlege in hand I am excited once again for the NEW stuff and will support this direction for the band. I am eager to hear the rerecorded GH's also with Arnel but that alone wouldnt be strong enough to make me wanna buy it.

Warrant did this several years ago. While it was not a huge seller, it was a cool thing. Because over the years the songs changed while being played live. They took on a different feel. And that is what was represented on the CD.

I agree with RedJoe, I would be interested to hear how the songs have evolved musically. However, if the band simply plays the same as the original and only the vocal is different, it's not going to be ANY good. And the production/mix HAS to be top notch! To me it was a guarantee that with JSS there would have been a new vibe...that would have been awesome.

I also agree that there will likely be a new song or two on the disc. Of course you could d/l just those. Plus, Walmart is not a record label, so they might pony up some cash to Journey for this. It would likely be a straight paycheck for the product. Azoff is in bed with Walmart and they might "trust" him. That paycheck will not be as large as for the Eagles, but it will likely be more than the guys made from Arrival sales.

Absolutely no way- might have if Jeremy, Chalfant, or JSS were on vox.

Hey Journey may have sunk pretty dang low but if they want to reach Man United's level (lower than whaleshit at the bottom of the deepest ocean) they still got a ways to go an alot more evil deeds to do!!!

They haven't even released a studio CD with solid production since Perry left.

My intuition pretty much agrees with the poster that said this is only a move to gain more control of the songs, and in that case, I can see why they'd do it. Musical integrity often comes second to issues of money.

what you said haha. I totally agree with you and the poster who said it's to gain more control. Money is the king in the game of washed up rockers and that's all I can see this being. I'll have a listen only because I'm a curiosity freak but I doubt I'll buy, just on principle that SP was all about the integrity and I seriously doubt any of those clowns give a crap about that. I don't plan on giving them any money towards killing a classic library. I have the origionals that I listen to ALOT and I don't need replacements.

myself i'm happy with the ones i already have so no i won't be buying it if it drops in stores....

No. I won't even listen to it. I don't want to know about it. I don't care how much the sound is improved. I won't read the threads about it. This is the stupidest thing the band have ever done if it goes through.

everyone duck!!! train wreck coming through....wooowooo.... If I could give serious thought to them doing this for a valid reason, other than they have no new material and are desperate, I would give them some more credit but I just can't.

I just posted this in another thread. What I read on this board was that Walmart approached them about redoing the GH and eliminating the middle man (Sony). Journey could stand to make some nice coin off of this deal, and some of the band members need to do just that.

My Momma didn't raise no "asshole" and only an "asshole would buy this. Why the fuck would I want to spend my money on some rehashed music done by some sound alike clone when I have the best already with "the voice" Steve Perry!?! I'm not nuts!

If the guys open for someone or I can see em cheap I may get a ticket just to see the new lineup outta morbid curiosity if nothing else.

No. Not unless they were done by Hugo or another tribute cd
or if they had done it when Steve Augeri was in the band.

NOT if Perry isn't singing them.

Just because it wouldn't be fair.

Journey are now they own tribute band, and I'm sorry to say this, but there are better Journey tribute bands out there.

Now, a CD of new material.....

I'd d/l it and review it first, and probably WOULDN'T buy it. :)

Only if they change their band name to "Anal Sloppus" or "Cannibal Uterus" and use a logo made with impossible-to-read typo!

i'd be willing to bet they put a brand new cd in with the re-recordings of the classics and sell it as a twofer.that would be the smart way to do it.that way people are curious about the new music will get the classics too and give the new music a spin.that might gain them a few more new fans in the end....
