why do you think they were interested in the first place with jeremey??? because he is a steve perry impersonator. they could have easily passed him off as sp... to the casual not caring fan.

Damned right it was OK to do so with JSS and it would have been OK with Jeremey because they both wanted to respect the legacy by changing up the classics and lend a different sound to them rather than try to pass themselves off as Perry.

Jeremey wanted them to change up the classics by doing them acoustic or completely reworking the arrangements. Jeff would have put his own voice and style to the classics. What they're doing now is trying to make people think Steve Perry doesn't mean shit to the Journey legacy. Are you in favor of that?

I agree and disagree. Jeff had his own sound and twist but Jeremey was a Perry sound a like. I don't get the argument Sherrie. Jeremey is the ultimate Perry sound a llike. Explain.

"Changing up the classics and lending a different sound to them" to me is not only disrespectful, but stupid. If Perry doesn't want to sing them I want someone that comes damned close to the original sound that made them popular. THAT'S why they were popular!!! Shall we have a rapper change them up to suit your moronic fancy? Hiring an Asian guy shows me they're MORE than willing to NOT "try to pass themselves off as Perry." the fact that you're not only close minded because he has NEVER performed one song with the band yet, but the fact that you're judging material you haven't even heard lands you with zero credibility. You're like a fuckin' rubber crutch in a polio war....useless.

Jeremey suggested to them that they should do something different with the classics if they were going to rerecord them.

OK Dan, enjoy your pseudo Journey. I'll listen to and watch the classics done by the man who made them classics. I guess you would be happy with Pee Wee Herman singing the classics if he could do a good Perry imitation.

Folks...I am pleased to say that the emphasis for 2008 will be on the new material. I was completely take by surprise on this - I had not anticipated any new material at all - but I was wrong.

The re-recordings are part of a plan, but it seems they are not the main point.

LOL! they have been doing that for years... now it's a problem? it would have pissed me off if jss re-recorded & i would have lost a lot of respect for him... as an artist. in my mind journey is re-recording because they don't have anything left to give. they should just hang it up & call it quits. it would be different if they put out new music with a couple of oldies mixed in... or made a dvd of last years tour... or the next tour with whomever.

*sigh*

If you're taking stupid pills, they're working. You honestly expect Journey to alienate the 90% of their concert crowd that wants renditions as close to the original as possible because YOU don't want "a good Perry imitation?" It was pseudo-Journey with Augeri, Jeff and will be with Arnel. It will be with ANYONE other than Perry. They've merely selected the person they think has the best voice of the 3. Get over it.

Good good news.

So it seems the re-recordings could be just the beginning. Whatever reservations I have about the loss of Augeri and the jettisoning of JSS, Journey working is good news to me.

Mindless rants, photoshopped avatars and sour grapes posts tell me that you're NOT done. I know, I know...you're done supporting them at shows and with CD sales. Their Wal Mart deal is all but pre-paid so the fact that your only means of "hurting" them is not going to concerts will only increase the crowd's collective intelligence, not to mention add to the overall asthetic concert going experience. STAY HOME.

I'm sorry I'm heated and don't like being taunted with.
Yet that's exactly how I've felt for quite some time now when it comes
to the band I once loved.

Pay no mind to me I'm fumed is all, just another hissy fit in the hills of life.
