Postby Blueskies » Wed Dec 05, 2007 12:06 pm

Excuse me but I just have to share....
I received a wonderful gift today! My son called me from Italy...he and his wife are expecting a child! I'm going to be a Grandma for the first time! I can't even express how overjoyed..thrilled I am!! I pray the pregnancy goes smoothly...she found out early so I have a long wait ahead...can't wait to hold my grandchild! Whoohoo! :D :D :D

This one's for my grandbaby!

Big congratulations TVL. That is really great news.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

  Thanks!...I don't feel I'm too young though. I understand why people are waiting longer to start a family...to get established first, etc....but waiting to have children too late...then you miss out on the grandkids to come....but whatever works for them.., kids, starting late, no kids...it's all an individual choice....I'm just happy I will get to experience this next chapter and watch my family grow! My twin son's aren't married yet, but hopefully they won't wait forever and will enrich me with even more grandchildren!

That is too young to become a parent...teenagers aren't ready to be parents...their still kids themselves. I had my twins at 22 , but I took right to it...caregiving is in my nature, I love kids and being a mom....but some may feel that that was too young... many aren't ready yet in their early 20's either. My son is 24 and his wife is 25. It's all up to the individual and what they are capable of...there is no "correct" age....but
I think we all can agree that teenage pregnancy is a problem and kid's aren't ready to have kids.

Congrats TVL! And, you are right, teen pregnancy is a huge problem and most have no clue how to take care of a child. That said-everyone makes bad choices, some with bigger consequences than others and some teenage moms turn out OK in the end and raise great kids.

Congrats! Though I have to say egads! I'm just a bit shy of your age and I'd kick this boyo's ass to Egypt if he made me a gramma at that age. lol He is only 16 though. I thoroughly forbid him to even "think" about procreation activities until he's 35! So far, so good. lol

Congrats again! This is a bit forward thinking, but will you be participating in the birth? I had my step-mother with me for my mini's birth and I don't think Grandma has stopped beaming yet!!!

Thanks! My son's wife is in the Air Force and has choosen to be career military. She is in a management position right now and is going to school to become a physicians assistant. She is stationed in Italy right now and is suppossed to be there until November of next year, but she was in Afganastan previously, and has already fullfilled her overseas time. She has requested to come back to the states before the baby is due...I hope that her request will be granted, but I will go wherever they are when the time comes. I would love to be at the birth and I know they both will want me to be there.

Congratulations on the wonderful news, Phyllis. Being a grandparent is absolutely the best, and I'm sure you will shine in that role.

When my granddaughter was born, she was the first girl in my family in 52 years. Euphoric? You bet, and it continues to this day.

Many blessings to you and your family.
