Perry's thoughts on the latest announcement

Postby Foolish Heart » Thu Dec 06, 2007 6:46 am

A couple of questions up for discussion in regard to the latest Journey news:

1. What do you think Perry is thinking about all of this, if anything??
2. Do you think he cares one way or the other?
3. Do you think we will hear from him, either through the media or perhaps through new music?
4. Do you think this will force him to react in some way - again through the media or new music?

or.. do you think he will do nothing??

If this news is REALLY true, and he's gotten wind of it, I think he's laughing his ass off.

I'd say Perry thinks that the Journey organization is stupid for letting Jeff go.

He's probably like the rest of us, very curious to hear it. Bigger question is would he publicly admit it if he liked it?

Well, this is the third announcement of another singer he's heard, the second time new music will have been put out by the band with another lead singer and nine years on......

I wonder if he even cares. My guess is no.

1. What do you think Perry is thinking about all of this?

Probably a LOT!

2. Do you think he cares one way or the other?

Of course. It was the major part of his career. I figure the re-recording part would probably piss him off.

3. Do you think we will hear from him, either through the media or perhaps through new music?

Probably not. He may receive requests for comments - in fact I'm sure he will - once the (music) media gets wind of what Journey plans to do as far as releasing the hits with another voice.

4. Do you think this will force him to react in some way - again through the media or new music?

Nah, I doubt it. Why should it 'force' a move out of him... he's Perry, he's always done whatever he wanted no matter what the Journey Circus is doing anyway (even when he was IN Journey). Can't see a reason that would change at this point. He didn't seem to feel forced into a reaction when they moved on with Augeri. Or JSS. So really, it's just par for the course... "okay Journey has another new singer... what else is new?" LOL!

Although. Since this contract/agreement thing about Journey not being able to cover the hits with a new singer is up... and assuming it's a two way street, meaning both parties were bound to agree not to do such a thing for X period of time, it would be hilarious to see Perry come out with an new version of the GH at the same time Journey's comes out.

Granted, the difference here is that he'd probably never do a thing like that because he knows that material doesn't need to be touched, updated, or anything else. I'd still love to see something like that happen though because what Journey's is doing to it is practically sacreligious. :x

yeah, but this is a whole new kettle of worms

they're actually recording HIS music - which at least they'll have to pay him for, but i'm sure that's little comfort...

Don't speak for all of us.

I for one, (and I *know* there are others here that feel the same way) have ZERO interest in hearing Nick Schlong and Faggot boy destroy Journey with an outsourced shitbag singer redoing songs that should be treated like national treasures.

This whole fucking plan is a shitstain on our society....

Journey != Garth Brooks....

and this walmart deal is just a fucking way to circumvent the protection that Sony and Perry have tried to place around the legacy...

fucking Schon...that piece of shit...is hell bent to pound this legacy into dust.

Fuck him!

Fuck Cain...

and fuck anyone that actually financially supports (by purchasing this shit at walmart) this crap!

1. Embarrassed and sad that they've turned the (cracked) Journey stone into dust?

2. Who knows, maybe he'll be pissed that they are going to try making money off that music with somebody that sounds identical to him (damn and he thought they got somebody that sounded like him with Augeri??? ). I'd be making sure that John Q Public knew that wasn't me.

3. Hope so. :)

4. LOL you should know better than that, nobody forces Perry to do anything.

1. He's probably not surprised that the Journey "stone" continues to be chipped away at. (If they release re-recorded classics)

2. Sure I think he cares. It's hard to see what once was golden become tarnished.

3. He'll probably make a comment if the classics are re-recorded. Don't think he'd want the public to think those are his vocals.

4. No

With all honesty he probably doesn't really care what Journey does at this point. I am sure in his mind Cain and Schon killed the Journey name years ago when they went on without him. He probably liked JSS for the reason that he didn't sound like him, but again the band has chosen to go that route with Arnel, like they did with Augeri. Due to the conflicts between him, Schon, and Cain, there is no chance of a true Journey reunion...at least at this stage of the game. He's sitting home fat and happy, cashing his royalty checks and knows that his fan base still talks about him so much and so passionately that he doesn't need to do any advertising that he is still alive. All in all, he is the consummate performer... he left the audience wanting more, and HIS legacy is fully intact.

please refer to the refrain of a very well-known song written by a young hopeful talented portuguese singer/songwrite who opened his heart as he sang (and I quote)

"NA Na NaNA NA NA - NA NA NANA NANA"

**arm waving is optional** **nose thumbing mandatory**

2. Do you think he cares one way or the other?

refer to #1

FORCE Perry? Into anything - not a chance

or.. do you think he will do nothing??

I bet he's thinking "Hmmm...now WHY is it again that I'M not reuniting with these bung-holes and making a freaking fortune, while at the same time becoming a hero to my legion of fans who desperately want a reunion? And why is that everyone from Roger Waters, to Sting to DLR and EDDIE VH (for God's sake) can put THEIR shit behind them for the "love of their fans" (i.e a truckload of cash) but me and Friga and Fro can't seem to????"

I think perry's goofyassed fans are more affronted than perry, who at this point I'll bet could give a shit.

Otherwise, he'd be here. Duh.

1) He's lamenting over the fact that he can seemingly no longer hold a band that he "never felt like a part of" hostage anymore.

2) Of course he does. I'm sure he stays in shape with his frequent visits to his lawyer's office and the subsequent whining that ensues. If he loses this mode of "exercise" he might begin to resemble one his Back Talk hogs.

3) Yes. Prepare for another riveting interview delving into deep subjects such as baking, colors and titanium.

4) Only if he has any balls...and so long as he doesn't view this as an ultimatum because he doesn't "respond well to ultimatums." I bet he can sure as shit dish them out though.

In the Summer of 08, he will tour as a replacement for Justin Timberlake in N'Sync.

I don't think it has ever changed, with Perry. The guys masquerading as "Journey" will never be Journey to Perry, or many of Journey's fans. Outside of youtube clips, I don't know much about Arnel. Even if the guy is the best vocalist on the planet, it's still never going to be Journey for me, and it wasn't with Augeri or Jeff, either. If Journey were commercially significant, which will NEVER happen (regardless of how great a new cd might be), I think Perry might be a bit more annoyed by the whole thing. The fact that these guys are nothing more than a tribute act probably makes it all less than a blip on Perry's radar.

SP: God, I'd love to make an album. I think about it a lot. I'd like to perform again. I think about it a lot. I really WAS toast. I just had to get off the merry go round and live my life. That band had a mission and that mission was completed as far as I was concerned. God, I'd love to make an album. I think about it a lot. I'd like to perform again. I think about it a lot. perry said....'don't crack the stone'

as much as i love the band i'd say they've shattered it.the jury is out on if arnel will pump anything worthwhile into the catalog.i'd love to see them do well again creatively but the odds at this point are firmly not good to be honest.they might continue to be a live force but as a recording unit that well might be dry for good.i guess we will see.....
