OT - Just One Night

Postby Memorex » Fri Dec 07, 2007 4:25 pm

In the mood to post something positive, even though I'm not feeling too positive regarding the current state of this band I used to love.

What do you guys think of the Eric Martin song, Just One Night? Co-written by Neal. Covered by Triumph. Both good versions.

Speaking of Eric Martin - Anyone watching Next Great American Band, or whatever it's called? That 14 year old in Light of Doom sounds like he could progress into the type of voice Eric has. I didn't think so at first, but he has really come along these past few weeks.

My wife melts over Eric Martin's song, "I Love the Way You Love Me".

Mr. Big's Lean Into It is in my top 5.

As my 14 year oldwould say, this post is so random. Sorry.

What? LOL, I could hear somebody talking about Eric Martin from 2 forums away.  I LOVE Eric Martin's voice, something about the tone/timbre of it. Your wife has great taste, ILTWYLM is a great song, looks like somebody posted the song on youtube too.

I didn't know Eric was one of the writers on Triumph's Just One Night. :o

I've only watched a tiny portion of one show of Next Great American Band but my daughter watches and raves about the young rock band on it, so that is probably who she is talking about. Just might have to check it out.........

Mr. Big's Greatest Hits is in my top 5. Can't seem to have that one out of my car stereo for very long. :)

Triumph did it a while after Eric Martin. I like both versions. I wonder if anyone else has covered it.

EM is one of the great unsung rock vocalists of all time.
I have all of his work and love his Somewhere In The Middle CD.
MR BIG continues to be one of my all time favs!!
I really wish he would've continued down this path.
Check out Over My Heart from that CD,it could have easily been a top 10 hit in the states.

Absolutely agree on all points, Michael. Love, love, love EM! He's ranked #3 on my favorite singers of all time list, right under SP & Sam Cooke.

...and I have you and the Journey Force to thank for that Lora. :D
I discovered EM through the newsletters back in the day. He is in my Top 3 too, along with SP and Robert Plant.
I love all of his solo stuff, especially his early solo albums. It would be cool for him to go back and re-record those with more of an R&B feel vs the 80's synth feel.
I have an old Mr Big VHS (Group Profile)that shows a piece of Lying In A Bed Of Fire (during his new romantics period).
Man I would love to have that full performance.
Hope he releases some new music soon!!
