Good Morning Girl

I can't get enough of Good Morning Girl. To me, this is Perry's finest studio recording. Pure, simple vocal performance. Raw talent, powerful high notes, emotion throughout the song.

Put your headphones on this song is pure magic.

And it is followed by another fave of mine :D

That's a great vocal performance without going over the top like some of the urban yodelers do.

The talent pool for rock singers is like that of major league pitching...thin and getting thinner.

Urban Yodelers

People think that Runs mean talent. I would much rather hear a sustained note than a crappy run anyday.

Departure/Good Morning Girl/Stay Awhile are the trifecta, imo.

The "Infinity", "Evolution" and "Departure" albums are a pretty good trifecta as well.

"Runs" are okay as long as you don't do them all the time and stretch them out as long as possible.

I used to sing Good Morning Girl to my daughter every morning when she was a little tike. Poor kid--I can't sing at all. If I did it now, she would probably tell me to stop and just let her listen to the CD! I agree that Steve's performance is unbelievably fantastic.

Perry did a lot of runs (most of them stolen out of the Sam Cooke catalog) but singers today just think the whole song is one run. It gets old but quick.

I agree GMG is Magic.

Both gentle and soaring vocals that leave the impression of purity and simplicity.

Perry just makes it seem easy...he's so gifted.
