It does look pretty silly, and I'm not getting the bad video game-looking CGI during the racing sequences, but it does look like they've tried to imitate the cartoon to some degree. I don't think they are trying to make this a serious film, but just a cartoon come to life. Don't know if I'll even see it -- I was never really a fan. But didn't they get the car and the costumes right?

I wonder if they'll do a takeoff of sorts to that little action pose he does with the car during the cartoon's opening sequence?

It does look pretty silly, and I'm not getting the bad video game-looking CGI during the racing sequences, but it does look like they've tried to imitate the cartoon to some degree. I don't think they are trying to make this a serious film, but just a cartoon come to life. Don't know if I'll even see it -- I was never really a fan. But didn't they get the car and the costumes right?

My buddy actually found a costume for halloween it was dead on lolbut you got to remeber I'm 42 so i grew up with The Speed Racer Cartoon series and when these new movies come out like this they screw it up for us old school folks ,Heck they did the same to under dog!! sorry just venting lol

Man, I didn't realize there was an UnderDog movie! Yeah, the dog doesn't look quite right... They should have done CGI like they did in "Garfield" (never watched that either, though). Man, I'll tell ya what I'd like to see -- some live action, big screen, "Hong Kong Phooey!"

Gonna go on record in disagreement, NIG. I think it will be huge! It's gonna kick off one hell of an action summer (Can't freakin' WAIT for DARK KNIGHT and IRON MAN!) As for the CGI, I think they're trying hard to resemble the old school japanamation (and doing a fairly good job, from what I've seen) - I think Wachowski bros have another hit on their hands.

They are debuting a few minutes of footage of Heath Ledger's Joker along with the IMAX version of "I Am Legend" in just a few days. Iron Man also with ROCK! Next summer is going to be huge for comic movies... We also have the new "Incredible Hulk" due then (I think), along with "Punisher: War Zone" (not a lot of great early buzz about it so far, but I'm seeing it anyway). Here's the first shot of Ray Stevenson as Frank Castle:



A lot of folks think as I do, that he kinda looks like Steven Seagal in that one!

Yeah, Rip, I think IRON MAN is gonna be tremendous! How in the Hell Jon Favreau managed to pull that cast I'll never know (Robert Downey? Gwenyth Paltrow? Sam Jackson??/) but I can't WAIT! The previews look very cool...

and I think you're right. I believe that the "Ed Norton" Hulk does come out in 08.

Did you know that Ed Norton actually wrote the screenplay (or helped write it)? I had no clue, but he was a screenwriter before he began acting. That's impressive.
