I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this but I know the Scorpions or Santana need a date this upcomming summer..

Loverboy, anybody? They have a new (pretty damn good, IMO) album out...

They'd fit the bill as one of the opening bands very nicely.

I think the Scorpions are supposed to be out with Judas Priest this summer, and as far as Journey sharing the stage with Santana...

Loverboy? Two has-been acts on the same bill? Nah.

That's why it was good Journey toured with Def Leppard last time around, because Def Lep can still generate a decent crowd. I don't think Journey could have headlined a show with Augeri let alone Arnel.

I think Journey should open for the JSSB. :D

Seriously, KISS might be a good option. Like em on not, they still draw in a pretty good crowd, and they havent done an official US tour since 03, I believe. Plus, Journey opened some shows for them back in the 70's, so they have a history.

I know..I know...lots of you hate KISS...I'm just sayin'...

Not a bad idea from a money-making standpoint, or for crowd drawing for that matter. KISS last toured with Poison in 2004. Not trying to be an asshole, just stating the fact :)

No...Loverboy would be the opener. They can be the "has-been act." All I'm saying is they might want to tour to support Just Gettin' Started, and opening for Journey would put them in front of more people than touring on their own.

Journey toured by themselves to support Generations in 2005 and the crowds were pretty solid.

Ignorant statement. Journey drew huge amphitheatre crowds by themselves in 2005.....

Ignorant's a harsh word, isn't it? Because it's like calling someone else stupid, to a harsher degree.

Still, I do know that was 2005, you know. Before they had three different singers within the course of a year and a half. Before the world of music and music fans viewed them as a complete joke. 2005 may have been a fine year for them, as Generations was indeed a fine album. But the joke started in 2006...

You'd be surprised how little the general public knows about all of this. You're so ignorant!

Sure, much of the general public doesn't know, however, the people who do know look at it as more of a joke. At least that's how I see it. It's clear that many fans are gone with this decision, which leaves them less than what they had before. And it's gonna keep declining.

I don't know, it's just a theory, take or leave.

That's why I have a feeling crowds this summer on "Yet-To-Be-Named Album Tour" will be pretty similiar to the crowds on the Generations Tour.

I just don't think that Joe Average is going to see a bill with Journey and another band or two at an amphitheatre near him and pass it up, citing Journey becoming a joke. Yes, some die-hards on this forum are going to be gone with this decision. And that will hurt Journey, because these people see multiple shows and buy a lot of merch and promote the band to others. But think of it this way. If there are 200 people on melodicrock.com's Journey forum who will never see them again (that's probably too many), those people are going to be spread out nationwide. So the drop-off at any given show on tour is not going to be that steep.

That's just my opinion. But on this first tour with Arnel I don't think you'll see much difference in crowd sizes. However, if things go south and the band gets bad reviews and the album is no good, etc., etc...then in subsequent tours you'll see a decline in attendance.

Though it would probably never happen, I'd like to see Whitesnake or Deep Purple with Journey, or maybe someone like Dokken opening. Hmm... maybe Blackmore could get together a JLT-era Rainbow reunion. Wishful (read: NOT HAPPENING) thinking, indeed. I do like the KISS idea though. Also, how bout Frehley's new band opening, since I hear new rumours of a new album and tour from him sometime soon. Would be interesting, to say the least. How about Yngwie Malmsteen somewhere in there? Wow, ok, I think I need to stop drinking for the night, this is getting a bit out there. Anyhow, though it would never happen I think any of these bands would be an amazing package with Journey.

Nah, Three Dog Night doesn't tour as part of a multiple billing. Cory Wells and Danny Hutton are still singing as TDN and they (to my knowledge) only play solo. I could be wrong. Unless you were joking, which means I didn't get it!
