Those are great, Phen! I would not be able to do that...when I do a portrait I have to either be looking at the person or at a pic of them. I need a visual reference to go by so I am truly impressed that you did those from memory. The resemblances are clearly there. Good work! :)

Thanks. They're not too bad considering they're in biro, but it is so much easier with a picture in front of you! That was my way of ignoring my Modern Studies lesson... thank god for Geddy and Kate to distract me.

You outdid yourself on the "Try" by Janis Joplin.

Funny how a pro like Joss Stone tries to make rock songs "soulful" but they end up sounding like crap. You're doing these songs at home and hit 'em out the ballpark.

Your "dilemma" is you're doubly blessed with a voice and artistic drawing talents so you have to choose which you love more. Hmmm, remind you of anybody?

John Lennon went to art school while he was gettin' his music going. At least you sing as a hobby.

Thanks for another cool vid!

I can't stand Joss Stone! I would love to pierce her on a large spike then throw her remains into the spinning blades of a helicopter. Do I think about killing various bands/artists I don't like that much too often? :P

I know that cartooning is what I should do, because as well as being able to draw, I can write pretty good stories to go with them. With music, I just like singing along to songs I already know -- I can't write lyrics for the life of me and I hate playing music myself. I want to do something reletively creative with my life, and singing would only take me as far as a tribute band, which wouldn't be good for anybody. Who would I pay tribute to anyway? :P

I think it's my funniest video to date. I honestly sound like a chinchilla being fed into a mangler. Stuff like that makes me laugh. :P Usually, saying that you make yourself laugh sounds big-headed, but I think that this is an exception to that unwritten rule.

Geddy's an enigma. No one sounds quite like him, which may not be a bad thing. However, he has the perfect voice for the musical style Rush has developed. You've got more guts than I do singing one of their songs for everyone to see!

It doesn't take guts to post chinchilla-esque singing on YouTube. It takes insanity.

You underestimate your singing talents. You've got a great range. If you can front a tribute band you can sing original stuff. Our own Jeremey was asked by the band to consider fronting it. (Please don't track him down, he declined the job anyway.)

Oh, I agree about Joss Stone. I'll never forgive her for what she did to Queen's "Under Pressure". She comes off as if she's a mordern day Janis Joplin on the soul music scene. Blech!

Your passion is the cartooning, that's obvious so that's that. At least you're doing both!

To me, my range is pointless if I can't write any of my own stuff. But I won't turn my back on having a bit of fun and chasing boredom away through singing.

I can't forgive for anything she's ever done. Ever. :P Anyone who is convinced that they're the new Janis should be shot. (Even though Janis didn't write many of her own songs - her voice was so different from others at that time that she didn't need to write her own stuff anyway.)

Indeed. Just because I have one passion doesn't mean I'm not allowed to like other stuff. :D

That's fine. I didn't even notice the eyeroll. :P

For all the Valerie fans, here's another link - to the legendary 1988 Roll With It concert (at the Royal Albert Hall, methinks). Unfortunately, the last "I'm the same boy I used to be" gets cut off, but it's still a great version.

Oy vey! Does everyone enjoy me: the neurotic, stubborn, semi-Jewish girl throwing a tantrum then? XD You're the complete opposite to my friends, in that case. Poor Richard and Chris.....

Requests are evil creatures like mosquitos and tiny dogs that repeatedly bark at you until you want to stamp down on them with a huge boot that has diseased nails attached to it. Not that I'm crazy or anything.
