I told you the Jets "cheated"

...and keep in mind again, Patriots-haters, that the footage the Patriots "cheated" to get in Week 1 is perfectly legal to obtain if you film it 75 feet further back from where the Jets and Patriots employees were situated...that is all.

NEW YORK (Ticker) - Apparently, the New England Patriots aren't the only team that uses cameras.

According to a report in Wednesday's Newsday, NFL sources familiar with the situation said that the New York Jets were caught using a video-taping device during a game against the Patriots in Foxborough last season, which resulted in the removal of a Jets' employee.

Gillette Stadium officials noticed the employee recording the game from the mezzanine level between the scoreboard and a "decorative lighthouse in the end zone," according to the report, and asked the employee to stop and leave the area.

The camera was not confiscated by the Patriots or stadium security and the Jets admitted on Tuesday that they did videotape the game and that their employee was confronted.

New York played at Gillette Stadium twice last campaign, once during the regular season and again in the playoffs. A source familiar with the Patriots' situation told Newsday that the filming occurred during the first game while a source close to the Jets said it happened during the playoffs.

Video taping opposing teams' signals was brought to the public's attention when Jets security allegedly told NFL officials that a Patriots' employee was recording their defensive signals during the New York-New England game in Week One of this season.

After reviewing the evidence, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell fined New England coach Bill Belichick $500,000. The Patriots organization was fined an additional $250,000 and was forced to forfeit a first-round pick in the 2008 NFL draft.

An NFL source told Newsday that the league office is unaware of the of the incident and that the Patriots did not bring up the situation while under investigation.

That used to be the mantra of all of us Red Sox fan, so I feel your pain! As for the Jets recording, the Patriots recording, or any other NFL team recording...who gives a shit, really???? As I said when the Patriots were allegedly "turned in", this shit has been going on FOREVER, in the NFL, and it isn't ending anytime soon! The reality is that "Mangenius" has been ostracized by a plethora of NFL coaches, not named Bill Bellichick, because they felt what he did was just wrong. I say if the Patriots were recording shit they weren't supposed to be recording, then I have zero problem with Mangini, or anyone else trying to get an advantage, through "gamesmanship", and throwing the video guy out!

The bottom line is that the Jets got smoked by the Patriots because they're simply not a very good football team. It had absolutely NOTHING to do with "Spygate", secret video spies, or any other conspiracy theories that have been advanced! I'm confident that if the Jets don't come out and play the absolute best game of their career, they'll lose by 4 touchdowns Sunday, and it won't even be that close! I have to believe the Jets will show some character, and at least make the game respectable. That said, if Bellichick thinks his team can put up 50 on these guys on Sunday, he won't hesitate to get it done! There isn't a team in the NFL he hates more than the NYJ, and his disdain for these guys goes back, long before anyone knew what Mangini's name was!

I dunno...seems filming the on-field action, as the Jets did, is far different than filming a team's signals for unlimited playback at anytime.

I think the league's actions say so as well.

While I agree with you 100% that recording on-field action is completely different than filming a coach's signals, the "league's actions" really have nothing to do with it. As the NFL has said, on the record, the Patriots NEVER raised the issue of removing a Jet's videographer from Gillette Stadium. If the Jet's hadn't raised the issue of having the Patriot's videographer removed from Giants Stadium with the league, it would have never become a league issue. Again, I'm not saying the Patriots weren't guilty of everything the NFL said they were guilty of. I'm simply making the point that there is ZERO evidence that the Jet's weren't filiming footage that they weren't allowed to film, because no tape was ever confiscated, from the incident. The Patriots didn't involve the NFL and simply dealt with the matter and removed the videographer.

I will tell you this...Logic sort of dictates the Jet's videographer was doing something he shouldn't have been doing. The Patriots gave the Jets permission to record, and then removed the guy, during the recording, which they have never done before, or since! That certainly leads most logical thinking people to believe that they had some reason for booting this guy out of Gillette Stadium!

On another note...There is some good news for you Jets fans. The early predictions for the Boston area are for about a foot of snow on Sunday. It could certainly change by the time Sunday rolls around, but, if it doesn't, the Patriots probably won't score the 50 points that everyone thinks they're going to score. Nothing slows an offensive juggernaut down more than a foot of snow! If you're a betting man or woman...Take the Patriots and the over with snow, and take the Jets and the under with no snow :)
