Larry's avatar gave me some warm fuzzies....Gotta love Smokey and the Bandit. Simply one of the greatest movies ever made in the 70s...

Get it right if you are going to do it Frank.

"I wished your Goddamned head was in it!"

I know this movie by heart. EVERY word of it.

One of my all time faves.

Gotta love the Pontiac T&A. Sally Field wasn't bad either. Hubba hubba. :D

They are showing episodes on DIY of custom car company Year One building Bandit Edition '77 Trans Ams. Burt Reynolds is involved with the design.

Two classic scenes.

1. The slow drive by behind a barn where he looks directly into the camera and grins.

2. When Sally's changin in the car and sticks her butt in his face.

A cool fast black car and a cute girl's butt in your face? Doesn't get much better than that.

Dude, when Buford is checking out a wreck of cop cars over the bank, and the oriental trucker says "Bonzai" when he tears Bufords front door off that he left wide open on the road. T Justice goes into snap mode.

"I saw that you sumbitch! You goin on a way to your grave! I got the evidence. (turns to Jr and says) "Put the evidence in the car" (but Dadd-) [frustrated] "put the evidence in the car! (Back to the now long gone trucker..."I'm gonna BBQ your ass in molassas" eyes dropping to the pavement, pissed to all Hell.

They'd have to be mad to put this shit on DVD..........now if it was a film with British and German cars, now we'd be talkin'. Mind you, you not get to see the stars as our cars would be far too fuckin' fast to film  Okay Dean, I'm guessing from memory there's a European car in the film, WTF

Everyone hypes the T/A in that movie. The movie outplayed a pile of junk on wheels. Most, if not all of Detroit's cars were junk in the mid to late 70's. The EPA stepped in and the "Big Three" thought they ruled, not. And no, I do not drive "imports".

You should do because the driving experience would be better ten fold, than any American four wheeled piece of junk

On the TV show, (see my post a few posts up) Burt Reynolds said after the movie came out, Trans Am sales increased 600%.

Sheriff Branford: The fact that you are a sheriff is not germane to the situation.
Buford T. Justice: The goddamn Germans aint got nothin' to do with it!

Buford T. Justice: What we're dealing with here is a complete lack of respect for the law.

Cledus: Hey, is she wearing a wedding dress?
Bandit: Well she was [She throws dress out of the car t-tops since she has changed into jeans and a shirt]
Cledus: What's she wearing now? Come back. Hey, you got peanut butter or somethin' in your ears? Tell me what that girl's got on!

Good times, I've had in order:

1981 Turbo V8 TA - Burgundy (gutless 'cept when Turbo kicks in, 301 4.9 litre)
1979 403 Olds 6.6 TA - Black (traction bars, super duty headers, top speed 160+)
1979 Pontiac 400 T/A 6.6 - Black (beat every Camaro I raced)
1989 V8 GTA TA - Red (very quick but I didn't race this one)

I've driven a 1973 SD 455 (green) and 1970 H/O T/A. Had a chance to buy the '73 SD in '82 for $5,000 and passed. Regretted it since. Both of these were rockets.

Was fun at the time but I've sold them all. Wonder if Sammy still has his red one.
