Looks like all the updates were installed on my Vista and no problems, so maybe you're browser is having other issues?
No idea. I'd been having the problem described in your original post (IE7 crashing) , and yesterday, one of the sites in my favorites became inaccessible. So I followed the steps, removed the update, restarted, and the site was still inaccessible (I'd been on it as recently as yesterday morning, came home and *poof*, gone).
I downloaded FireFox and I
can get it there, so I know it's not a problem on the website.
Interestingly, overnight my PC installed its Windows updates and restarted itself. So I went to see what got installed and right on top:
"Cumlative Security update for Internet Explorer 7 in Windows Vista (KB942615) - 12/22/07"
The little bastard squeaked back in when I wasn't looking!

I was hoping maybe this was a Vista fix for the offending 12/12/07 version, but apparently not. And the one website that was not accessible is
still not.
