Can't Tame The Lion off Trial By Fire is the first song that comes to mind.

What song doesn't have a great solo/guitar work by Neal? Say what I will about the hi-jinks in this band, Neal Schon rocks!

There was something about the interplay of his guitar with Perry and Augeri's vocals that matched perfectly. I used to like being up front on Neal's side of the stage just to watch him play.

Ugh, I'm Neal Schon gushing! Whodda thought? :D

EVERY Pre-Perry song is brilliant. Far and away some of his best work.

How about we throw all your questions into one thread from now on Mike?
This is getting a little BackTalk-ish.

Thanks for understanding.

i gotta confess.i'm confused.here is my story.until i came here i never knew what back talk was but of course a song the band made.knew nothing about the fanclub or whatever it was that goes or went by that name.never been to the website in my life.....

up until i joined here this summer i hadn't really thought much of journey but was a huge fan back in the day.i never knew a lot of the more obscure facts about them until i came here.i knew perry had quit and they had augeri and thats that.when i saw there where people here that loved the band like i did i enjoyed all the questions and facts and stuff because i was wanting more knowledge......

i just started posting questions trying to see what others thought and getting feedback or whatever just to see how others felt in general about the more deeper side of things a more casual fan wouldn't really care about.now i got to ask the million dollar question....what does getting back talkish mean.i know some here have talked bad about whatever it was or is.hope i'm not going overboard or if i have let me know.honestly i had no clue, lol.i just get the feeling that getting back talkish ain't a good thing.i guess?

so everyone clue me in.....

Open Arms.

My favorite Schon solos are:

Mother Father - First the nice and "dainty" one while the song is still building, then the ferocious, angry one when Perry is singing about bitter tears and wounded years. Intense.

Little Girl - I can't think of another song where so much emotion comes through a solo. This song should be in everybody's Top 3 Journey song list.

Edge of the Blade - Schon is front and center for the last minute or so, and just shreds, but keeps it melodic.

In my opinion, anything off of Trial By Fire rivals or surpasses most of Neal's Journey work in brilliance and pleasantry.
