I will defend and preserve SP's honor, music and legacy like nobody's business. And we do know he is a private person. But there is a lot of us that just want to see and hear what he might be up to once in a while, what's wrong with that? No, we are not stalkers, nut cases, or don't have a life. We are just devoted fans very interested in Steve Perry.

A simple "Greetings, I'm doing fine" would be nice. But this entire year of deftly silence is disheartening. Were we spoiled from the previous years' annual Birthday message, holiday greeting, and Q&A's?

Are the Perry Detractors right when they say the only time we hear from SP is when he has something to sell?

"Are the Perry Detractors right when they say the only time we hear from SP is when he has something to sell?"

The answer to your question is NO.

Perry has done MANY kind things for his fans over the years, like the Q&A's, Birthday messages, and suprising the fans at the Star, and all the many radio interviews he has done, and such. I've always appreciated the things he did for the fans because I knew he didn't have to, and he could stop doing it at any time.

But I guess some may think he is supposed to continue doing those kinds of things on a regular basis to keep pleasing the fans, but maybe he is just in a different place in his life now, where he feels he just wants to enjoy living his private life.

Maybe my work is blocking it but I don't see the picture of Steve. What exactly did you click on to see him?

The link to the site for the pictures was removed by the site due to a letter from Mr. Perry's lawyers to C&D. There is a bit of a tussel with the photog since he owns the copywrite to the pictures. I agree with the poster that said this will come down to who has more lawyers. We will just have to wait and see.

I saved them as did many others. However, the watermark is pretty well embedded/encrypted and will take a good bit of time - one pixel at a time - and work to remove so as to not interfer with the integraty of the original photo. I am sure there are talented peeps here that have done so already

Yep, suddenly the multitudinous unison buzzing and whirring sounds stopped, the many sundry appliances were wiped and tucked safely away in the night drawer, mopups were commenced and finished lickety split, decorum was restored and they went right back into Stepford spin mode.

And you better get the double-ender back out and finish your business. You're still acting kinda sea haggy.

Took you long enough to pick up the ball I left for you and run it in for the score, 13. But that was a HOF response. TNC would be proud.

Steve didn't take any action that I know of to stop the use of the pics taken at the premiers of Monster or those taken surrounding the World Series. I'm guessing that the reason he didn't is because those were CELEB pics and therefore available for use by the media.

The wedding of a friend and a website using the pics to promote its services aren't quite the same.

Sure they are. He is out in PUBLIC. A private event, but unless it was held in his house, he is out in public.

And don't you wish he was making better use if his time than getting his feathers ruffled over a few photos? Like, I don't know, singing?

As you well know, I normally don't read perry "crumb" threads, but once I saw it stretching to Suzie-In-Full-Spate- thread proportions I thought I'd take a look and immediately was reduced to praying to the porcelain god for all the usual old soft-core ravings and cravings.

That's when I hit upon your welcome dose of reality.

I am siding with Espee on this one. Look, you ever stop to think why he is scared shitless to show himself in public or on a message board? Would you want arden cutting up your pic and investigating an investigation as to where that particular wedding took place? Perry is rightfully terrified of Loons. Not all Loons, but most Loons. Scary bitches I tell ya. Could you imagine arden, PROPERRY, Tnay, Stella all dressed in Pink Ladies gear, rolling up Perry Avenue, searching door to door ala Baghdad, in search of the poor man? Steve, dude, I understand. Hell, they frighten me and I am not at your level.

I think it's pretty safe to assume Perry is a smart guy. He has proven his intelligence and decision making over the last 12 years as better than sufficient.

I highly doubt it. The web doesn't work like that. You make money by selling advertising. There was no advertising on the SP page they put up.

Well, seems like nothing he does ever is. The expectations people have with him are insane to me. No matter what he does, people bitch. The dude hasn't been in the spotlight for ages, and he seems happy with that. What the hell is the big problem about that? For a guy to still be willing to pop up and answer 100 questions at a time about whether he still flies helicopters when he certainly doesn't have to just because he knows his fans want it isn't enough?

I swear, he could release a double CD tomorrow and the concensus would be "Waaaaahhhh! Why didn't he release 3?"

I've said this before... he isn't the one with the problem here.

Well now that the band has a vocalist in place (for better or worse), we will be hearing from Stevie Cease & Decist soon.

When Journey has something new ready to go, he will, as in the past, be overcome with a sudden urge to communicate something through the media.

So that's his new nickname?  Could always be shortened up a little... Steve & Desist. I don't disagree though, Joe... you're right, lately it seems that stirrings in the the Journey camp seem to coincide with the SP "tidbits".

way or another, maybe they didnt realize it would be a problem, but they should have asked

Frankly, I could care less if he ever released anything, even Veggie Tunes. It is just a bit, for the lack of a better word, ODD, that he would legally force someone to remove photos of him from a website. I understand his obsessive protection of his privacy, but some things are just too Howard Hughes-like.
As for "reappearing" whenever Journey announces something "new" maybe that is a sign of insecurity that none of the attention is on him, or maybe it is plain and simple jealousy. Who has the problem now?
In regards to the Q&A, instead of throwing tidbits the way of the fanatics, maybe he should just CHILL OUT completely, as in never show his face again. Then maybe he wouldn't be such a subject of contention (maybe con-TEMPTion) for the fans and non-fans.As again, this is JMHO.

So if I understand this correctly, he should go away and never make a peep again to prevent his fans from continuously getting their underwear in a bunch over what he does, says, doesn't say, etc.? Yeah, I'm sure he'll get right on that.

The C&D was about more than just those stupid pictures. That should be obvious. There was a whole paragraph about his attendance and his guest interaction, and it was all placed on a specific page called steveperry.html... come on... if it was JUST the pics in some little gallery on their site it would be different.

I CAN see YOUR point. No problem there. We all have OUR points regarding this subject. However, so does one think SP actually ENJOYS teasing those who have no connection with reality? Is it a fetish for him to have all those "nuts" stalking his every move, making inane and INSANE comments about him on forms, sites, etc?
If so, then any respect for the man's own sanity just took a nosedive. Maybe he isn't right in the head himself. Maybe he is suffering from senility. Who knows.

Regarding the pics, so you think if the site owners left out the commentary, then SP would not have went ballistic over the photos? Will we ever know? Not a snowball's chance in hell. SP just stole center stage again.
So, I guess SP has accomplished what he always strives for: debate after debate after debate about his sad, sordid life.
JMHO and I sure do enjoy sharing them!
