Funny show moment last night....

Postby TRAGChick » Sun Dec 30, 2007 4:48 am

Hey all....

We did our show last night....everything was going pretty well....people were getting into the originals; LOVED the covers we did...

...which leads me to what happened ~ made me think of a certain topic here: 8)

We were in the middle of "Any Way You Want It"....crowd loved it....we got to the Guitar Solo; I'm ready to do the famous:

"He said hooo-oo-wooooh-oo-woh-oo-woh-oh-oh-old....!"

....and the MIC DIED!

Our Sound Guy was freaking out; changing mics, cords, etc.....NOTHing worked....

....all I could do was stand there and laugh....

....I got a "Long Distance C&D" from SP.

Guess he didn't want me to sing his song.

Nora, everyone in the nation knows that song. You could have led them accapella. Seriously, you need to improvise sometimes. I saw SP forget the words to the 2nd verse of Ask the Lonely at the Cow Palace in 1986. He just sang the first verse twice. He was confident, no one noticed.

One of my friend's students had a brain-freeze during a recital - playing Rachmaninov's second sonata (which is unbelievably difficult) - and she ad-libbed into a Bruce Hornsby medley. Of course, the music teachers and vocal coaches all knew, but with the exception of a few "eclectic" parents, nobody else picked up on it. And she was incredible! She probably played 40-45 measures before she went back into the Sonata...and what was most impressive is that she was playing everything in B flat minor - transposing on the fly.

That is my WORST FEAR: forgetting what the hell I'm doing....on a COVER SONG.

Originals? Meh....nobody knows what the hell we're doing, anyway...

Well, hey...

I guess my answer would be:

The OFFICIAL VERSION of our song, "On The Way Down".

So, stay tuned in 08...
