OT: Playoff Matchups Announced...Predictions, anyone?

Postby Enigma869 » Mon Dec 31, 2007 12:09 pm

Jacksonville @ Pittsburgh on Saturday night at 8pm

Washington @ Seattle on Saturday at 4:30pm

NY Giants @ Tampa on Sunday at 1pm

Tennessee (there is no way they lose tonight's game) @ San Diego on Sunday at 4:30pm

Predictions

Even though I'm not someone who thinks Jacksonville is good enough to go to the Super Bowl, they're certainly good enough to beat Pittsburgh. I think Pittsburgh is a fraud of a team and that will be proven against Jacksonville!

I like the Redskins to upset Seattle. There is something about the emotion of the Sean Taylor death that I think is still carrying them.

In spite of the Giants SUPERB effort against the Patriots, Eli Manning simply doesn't impress me. I do think the Giants have a VERY solid D line, who can get after it! That said, I think Tampa has enough to get by the Giants.

I think the Titans or the Browns are one and done against San Diego. In fact, I don't even think it will be close. I think Cleveland could give them a better game, just by virtue of having a MUCH better offense, but due to their shitty defense would probably give up 50 points to the Chargers!

John, nice to see you hitting the bottle this evening.

Washington has no shot to beat Seattle. The Hawks played second and thirders today. Get fucking real. Sean Taylor is dead.

Seattle marches on to Green Bay.

Jax will beat Pittsburgh. I can't wait to see those yellow toweled fags sobbing in their Rolling Rocks.

SD wins.

Tampa wins.

Deano, I love you man, you know that. But, the Sean Taylor comment is beyond rude and not needed. I am a life-long REDSKINS fan and the you are right the Seahawks will prolly win. ST has no bering on this game. He will not be playing.

They will play the game and see what happens.

Was not even joking with Sean Taylor, Vader. Simply saying, or trying to say, they still cannot ride the emotion of Sean's passing, this much later and especially in the playoffs. Trust me, I don't joke about death, not any more. I am truly sorry if you took it that way.

Pittsburgh may win if they can get away with enough head shots, blocks in the back, late hits and going for the quarterbacks head & legs. I hope the ref in the Subway commercial doesn't get the game.

Deano- I have watched football every Sunday since 1973 when I noticed Johnny Unitas and Joe Namath having a passing war. At least 4 kids had to eat during some yelling at the TV and the Refs.

Its "Iron City & Iron City Lite", Jackass!

I'm thinking we're gonna see a different Steelers team against the Jags this time.
Wheteher Pittsburgh wins or not, this match-up looks to be the
most exciting game of the first round. Its gonna be brutal, down & dirty
football!

The sad thing is, i may miss this game...
Why???

I agree with you there, Carl. I think Pittsburgh/Jacksonville is easily the most compelling matchup in round 1. I think Tennessee/San Diego will be the biggest blowout of round one! Glad to hear you're coming home to the good old U.S.A.! Have a safe trip!

Eli Manning sucks. He always has. The fact that the Giants have a solid defensive line has only masked Manning's ineptitude for as long as it has.

Sorry, all the talent in that family went to the older brother. Buying a superstar's kid brother does nothing for the Giants except, perhaps, giving them a way to sell jersey's that say "Manning" on the back.

For a team to get through the playoffs, they need a QB that doesn't throw multiple interceptions every game.

So to that end, I agree with anyone's assessment that Tampa will roll right through the Jersey-Frauds.

His bad body language and mopey whiney face all time remind me of McNabb.

And Eli is the only qb I've ever seen who is trying to throw the ball and duck/protect himself all at the same time.

He's, for lack of a better comparison....an Arnel.

Riding on the coatails of greatness. He looks like his brother....but he's a far cry away from it. Like I said, I'm partly convinced the Giants went for him just so they can sell Jersey's with the name "Manning" on the back.

That's a pretty aggressive position you're taking there. I don't think it'll be the blowout you're wanting. Tennessee has a good shot at beating the Chargers, but it'll be a hard fought win.

In spite of Tennessee's valiant effort against San Diego earlier this season...they ARE NOT beating the Chargers! I'm honestly not a fan of either team, so don't have a dog in this fight. Tennessee simply doesn't have the ability to score enough points to hang with SD!

I fear you're right, but I will cling to my optimism!

Would be nice if Kerry "Tom" Collins could resurrect his career with a big road playoff win! I'm just not sure VInce is gonna be able to go. I've felt for most of the season that he's been hobbled, and has just been playing through it.You can certainly tell it from the way he's been running the ball (or not) in the last 5-6 games.

Really sucked that the NFL schedules a divisional game for week 17. Tennessee struggled to score points against a 2nd/3rd string defense, no way they beat the Chargers. Browns would have been a better matchup for San Diego.

I was thinking, if we had 12 people here...each of us put 20 bucks in a pot. Pick teams blindly, no choices. Winner takes all.

Lula could number the teams on her PM, which would be documented via timestamp, so no cheating, and it would be fun. I think there are 7 or 8 teams with a real chance to win the whole thing. Interested? Anyone?

I am thinking,

Me
AR
13
NIG
Gator
Enigma
Frank
Vader
Liam
larry
Rick
Blondie
Granny
donna
and ??? or??

If interested, PM me and I will make a new thread. Don't worry, the time stamp on the thread will eliminate any chance of cheating, and if I do it, I would hope you all would trust me anyways. You don't cheat friends...

PM me now!

And if there is anyone here who wouldnt trust me, I will recuse myself and not play.

Red I agree. Eli's body language suggets he has no confidence. Having said that I will give props to his play against the Patties.

Playoffs are a bit different Greggie, and Seattle is the toughest place to play in the NFL. Done Skins. Nice run though to get in.
