Callin Baton Rouge, The Thunder Rolls, The Dance, Shameless, Fever, Friends In Low Places...didn't write ANY of them.... and as an aerosmith fan, I'm particularly unhappy with "The Fever"...because it's simply A re-worked aerosmith song, which in and of itself, isn't bad...but he could have picked a song that Richie Supa or someone helped them write...he went straight for the ONE SONG ON THE ALBUM that Tyler/Perry wrote exclusively.

Garth brooks is good. I'd probably see him just for the spectacle....and the showmanship...but he's given far more credit than he earned...

When I said "What the fuck happened to "Ridin' The Storm Out"? I meant what happened to that style of hard rock that they became famous for? I mean, having a rock ballad is one thing - trying to get in teeny-bopper magazine spreads with a bubble gum song like "In Your Letter" is another.

P.S. - Richrath kicked ass. His replacement doesn't even come close to nailing those killer lead solos like Gary did.

Balance was a good album....it just didn't "hit" because people tried to consider it a follow up to "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge". There's not a Van Hagar album prior to or since "F.U.C.K" that could hold a candle to it...

There are some VERY powerful songs on Balance....The Seventh Seal...Don't Tell Me, Amsterdam, and the stomping instrumental Baluchitherium....but it's undercut by songs like "not enough" and "Can't stop loving you"... There's a B-side to the album called "Crossing Over' that was released on the Japanese version that's perhaps the best song from the album....shy of "The Seventh Seal" which is my favorite song from that incarnantion of the band (It's also the first song I ever saw them perform live..so I'm partial)

and I could say, since the title says "Song" - that "I don't wanna miss a thing" kinda blew me away from Aerosmith for a while...but they somewhat redeemed themselves with Just Push Play and Honkin on bobo...

Red 13 followed by Generations soured Journey for me. In the long run it was a good thing as I started to seek out other artists via melodicrock.com with the classic Journey sound to fuel my musical interest. That's how I discovered Hugo, Kevin Chalfant and Departure, Jimi Jamison and Pride of Lions and more diversly artists like Jorn Lande, Aryeon and Talisman.

I happen to think the original uncut version of More Than Words was a good song...and very different for the band. But it stereotyped them and that is all anyone wants to hear or remember by them. Same with Cherry Pie by Warrant. And the Black Album is not a bad album but it felt like a cop-out for Metallica to me. Still solid work on it though.

I would say that most of these songs and albums had some good work but they still damaged the bands for me in one way or another.

That's my biggest issue with him. I love The Thunder Rolls (especially the alternate ending), and Shameless. I can even say the alternate ending to Friends in Low Places is fun. But, otherwise, I've had enough Garth. I should probably qualify these statements with - my ex was a HUGE Garth fan. All the Garth crap left with him. So, I am able to look at it a little more objectively now.

He did one of the best LIVE albums ever with FRAMPTON COMES ALIVE and then follows it up with a sappy ballad. WTF!

Funny, my friend and I were just talking about this.

Metallica - St. Anger. I just can't listen to it and for some reason because of that album I can't listen to any Metallica post Black Album.
Black Sabbath - Tyr. After "Headless Cross" the next two albums with Tony Martin just hurt to listen to.
Judas Priest - Angel Of Retribution. I loved Priest, with and without Rob, but this was just a let down. 3 tracks are listen able and enjoyable.
Iron Maiden - The two Blaze albums. If Crube had not returned I would not be listening to them anymore. Now however I can listen to these albums.
Guns 'n' Roses - Use Your Illusion I & II. Too much filler, all the good songs are spread over two albums. After this and the tour with Metallica I stopped caring about them, at least Asshole, er I mean Axl Rose.

There are probably alot more, but these are the ones that pop out.

metallica went from the underground to the radio between and justice for all and its next release the black album.you can tell they wanted as many radio hits as they could get.the justice album was hard,loud,thrashy and uncommercial except for maybe the song one.then when one was sort of a hit off the justice album they went top ten there with hardly no MTV or radio support so they figured if they could sell 3 million of justice with no support then imagine what they could sell if they wrote hits and had support and shorten the songs from eight minutes to four for maximum radio promotion.i call it their sellout album which is the black album because with stuff like enter sandman,unforgiven and nothing else matters they hit the jackpot with their new more radio friendly sound.kind of like what kiss did with destroyer.their first few releases were all bombastic hard rock then with their fifth album they had a piano ballad with beth plus radio stuff with shout it out loud.where kiss really messed up back then was the 'ol disco song in '79 i was made for lovin you.after that the next few albums didn't sell too hot.but then rod stewart,the rolling stones and quite a few others were guilty of going disco back in '78 and '79.

As a moderate REO fan, I must take offense. "In Your Letter" was a light, fun song. "Ridin the Storm Out" flat out rocks.

billy squier was moving along pretty good until that video in '84 for 'rock me tonite' .in fact billy squier has confirmed in interviews that he is indeed gay.

It was like he was beating off in that video or something. It was very uncomfortable! It made me feel gay!

I have wondered that about him... Hmmm.... As for a song that completely ruined a band for me?? It wasn't a rock band, it was Garth Brooks. Yes, back in the day, I used to like Garth. Then "Friends in Low Places" came out. Holy crap! The kicker stations here played the crap outta that song. I can barely stand to look at him now.

That's because his fat, talentless ass is so huge that you can't see all of him unless you're standing 50 feet away. His top four most popular songs were written by other people, and he can only play chords on an acoustic guitar. He's exemplary of the complete lack of talent in the country genre...although I have to admit, he is a great showman, having been dragged to one of his shows by an ex-girlfriend of mine who was born in Mississippi.

Not sure if it is true, but was Garth Brooks originally a rocker and failed big time on it. Then tried his luck with Country?
