Listening/watching this youtube.........some of the most raw, powerful and passionate vocals. Shaking my head, sorry just don't get it.....maybe it's Perry's tone/timbre or maybe it's all in the delivery. Emoting is all about feeling the song you're performing...........just can't see the comparison....nobody "feels" a song quite like Perry.

I'd like to see some examples too. There is NOBODY that sings with such emotion as SP.....NOBODY, not even Freddie Mercury.Deb wrote:In another thread, somebody posted that Arnel's vocals were more raw and powerful than Perry's. Still trying to wrap my head around that one. Any examples?

Chuck Norris vs. Perry... who wins?
nikki wrote:Perry is about as replaceable in Journey as Freddie Mercury is in Queen. There will never be another like either of them. Queen was smart enough to know that by hiring an established singer with a broad musical appeal as opposed to looking for a "soundalike". No question that Arnel is a great vocalist, but he just doesn't capture a song's feeling like SP did. Without the emotion, it falls flat for me.

Chuck Norris with or without a mic?

I am sensing an Arnelfans vs. Perryfans shitstorm brewing, just like all the Wigglers vs Loons internet board fights that used to break out everywhere. If this keeps up, it will get ugly.
100% correct....Rockindeano wrote:annie89509 wrote:Whoo boy, I have not read the Arnel better than SP comments, just what is told and listed here. The thing is, you want to be on the Perry team. He will NEVER lose.
The Wigglers made asses out of themselves.
The Soto Pops knew Jeff wasn't Perry but that Jeff was awesome.
The Arnelians are basically Susie using her 34 different names.
The more this Circus plays, the better Steve Perry looks.

So the wheel in the sky spins
Now its pointed at Arnel.
The stage is his
Now his voice will interpret the music.
Time & space has spoken
we have but to listen or turn a deaf ear
Still we must remember
We all deserve a chance to preserver

'powerful' singing might actually mean 'straining' or 'forcing the voice to sing notes out of it's range.'
And if THAT's happening, then maybe he should make an appointment to see Steve Augeri's throat specialist now
