Because singing Journey songs night after night after night hurt SP and SA vocally, perhaps? :)

It's possible to make money doing jazz if you aren't a purist or a 'right on' Musician's union type of person!!!!
I do!

I'll dig some stuff out for you. :)
Gimme some time and I'll post you something.

I have. Thanks for the compliment.
I love melodic rock but I haven't sung it for a long time. I don't have recordings of old stuff, sadly. Used to do some Heart, Journey, Fleetwood Mac and all the usual stuff but no recordings and I don't do it anymore.
I make my living now doing an 80's show and jazzy stuff.

I'll post up a few 80's type things for you - recordings aren't very good as they are to a backingtrack on a crappy recorder, but my recent jazz stuff was done before Christmas in a studio, so, hopefully those songs will sound a little better.

I do have me singing OPen Arms but everyone seems to hate that song so much!!

And if THAT's happening, then maybe he should make an appointment to see Steve Augeri's throat specialist now

I'm curious, I've read all of that so many times since AP was announced to be the new lead singer and it's already been pointed out (and obviously disregarded time and again) that AP did 5 shows a week 3 hours at a time singing all kinds of these melodic songs in the smoky bars of Manila and Olongapo City with little to no affect on his singing voice.

Do many of us here actually want the guy to develop some sort of throat affliction that felled SA? If he gets one, it won't be do to belting out the high notes. The guy is 40 years old and has been singing like that since age 15. If he hasn't developed any polyps on his vocal cords from all of that, then why do so many think that being on Journey will hurt him vocally now?

I just don't get :|

Y'all be cool!

My name ain't Suzie

I guess I'm an Arnelian too but I was a Journey fan first 8) Him being on the band is something I'm looking forward to. I call it an INFUSION but thats my humble opinion.

eh, but you're a Journey fan and only came here a week ago? And you know all these facts about Arnel ... from where?

Oh, sorry, all these conspiracy and multiple identity talk got to me.

Getting back to the topic at hand, if you're still looking for singers who give it all, this guy did and then some. Too bad he's no longer with us.

Queen made a mistake by not getting Jeff. He handles Freddie's song just fine. Jeff did very well on Perry songs. They can go on with another Perry sound alike but they are still throwing darts at the board looking for anything to pay off and restore their name ( legacy). They have trashed the name Journey. No mattter what they do or how far they run on in their delusion, the success of the band always comes back to Perry. Ask Neal !

Listening/watching this youtube.........some of the most raw, powerful and passionate vocals. Shaking my head, sorry just don't get it.....maybe it's Perry's tone/timbre or maybe it's all in the delivery. Emoting is all about feeling the song you're performing...........just can't see the comparison....nobody "feels" a song quite like Perry.
