The Unthinkable.... Journey Doing A Covers Album.. a What If

Postby ProgRocker53 » Fri Jan 04, 2008 7:14 am

I hope Journey NEVER, EVER does a covers album, like the rest of melodic rock seems to be doing these days....

....but just in case they do, what are some covers you'd like to see Journey tackle?

Dude, Neal, if you're reading this, please don't get any ideas. Please.

releasing the hits with pineda on vocals is a cover album!
Until we meet again, may God

Most of me still refuses to believe that's happening, that it's a bad dream or something. :(

yep, and if we do this thread many more times, they will do another cover album after the Pineda one.

Well if it had Pineda on vocals then id like to hear

A few Survivor songs: Broken Promises, Man Against the World
Throw in a few Tyketto numbers: Forever Young
The Storm: Ive got alot to learn about love
Bat out of Hell by Meat Loaf, with a great musical jam in the middle
Total Eclispe of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler
Heat of the moment by Asia
Sweet child of mine - GnR
A Rush track could be quite interesting also, maybe a few Spocks Bear/Niel Morse tracks aswell, for a more progressive feel.

I'd love to hear Journey go in a prog direction again.

I think they could really nail Dream Theater's "Another Day," and perhaps Rush's "Red Barchetta."

Hell, "Red Barchetta" and "Escape" seem to both have a similar chord progression going on in the middle of the two songs.

Not one of DTs most progressive but i love to here Pineda/Journey do "ill walk beside you" from Octavarium, and that song from Scenes from a memory, i forget the name now but it starts off with a man leaving a Psychologist, walking along gravel and getting into his car. I love the drum rthym on that song and think Dean could pull of some great stuff.

Or they could go with the spirit of the idea and cover an entire Wham album, since the idea's fucking GAY.

GAAAAY-AYYY.

Your free run here is just about over.

Asia?
The Storm?
Tyketto?
Survivor?
Bonnie Fucking Tyler?

Dude, I am sure the public at large will RUSH, and I do mean rush to the local WalMart to get a cover of the Storm's I've Got a Lot to Learn about Love. No doubt they will go ape shit over Bonnie Tylers Total Eclipse of the Heart. Hell, why not dial up Cliff fucking Richard and have Journey and AP pump out We Don't Talk Anymore and maybe Flock of Seagulls I Ran! I for one cannot wait for Asia, yes that shit in their pants grandpa band to authorize Neal and the boys(and girls Friga), to do Heat of the Moment.!!

I hate to bring this thread back up to the top, because it was shitty and everything, haha...

....but I had a bad nightmare last night that I just had to share with everyone!

I logged onto MR.com in the morning to check updates like I always do, and then saw a massive news update on the front page:

BON JOURNEY: The Classics!

Bon Jovi covering their favorite Journey singles, while Journey puts a new spin on Bon Jovi chart-toppers!

A new 30-track double-album!!

UGH... what a travesty that would be.... haha.

If they do this, it will be completely over for them. The only gigs they would be getting then is a Vegas night club act with Wayne Newton.

Heat of The Moment is one of the all time AOR classics - amazing band - not as good as Journey tho. And Forever Young by Tyketto is fuckin awesome too.

Who knows... maybe they are re-recording all of the cover songs that Arnel's band The Zoo covered? Why shouldn't they? Journey has been reduced to a cover/tribute band anyway - it would be par for the course.
