what would a perry led journey album sound like year 2008...

we had raised on radio in 1986.then came trial by fire in 1996.these albums featured a more modern journey sound and were have on ballads at times with a few rockers in there for good measure but how would a 2008 perry album with journey sound like if it happened? i know i'll get a few rocks thrown my way but this is not another one of those wishful thinking type things its just something to sort of imagine how the whole thing would sound.what influences would be thrown in at this point and how would the material be produced.would there be just ten or eleven powerful tracks or eighteen cuts with a bunch of filler throughout the disk.what would the artwork be like and would it continue in a vein similar to the trial by fire and journey live art or would they swing back to the original.since most bands are going back to their roots i think if perry got back on this album it would be along the lines of infinity meets escape meets trial by fire.would be very interesting to ponder what the overall sound would be but i know it would be top five immediately.a tour would sprinkle all material from infinity up to trial by fire with a couple new cuts thrown in.some nights they would play rarely heard material like do you recall or people places just to keep the setlist fresh.then they go out on top......

Man, that was an Olympian struggle to read.

Anyway, I'm sure a Journey album with Perry in this day and age wouldn't be anything that I'd hope for it to be. For some reason I reckon it would be a little more stripped down, even with the rockers. That way Perry, even with his worn-down/aged voice, will be able to sing quality stuff for this music. I'd bet on more acoustic/clean electric guitars, and piano in favor of synthesizer.

I'd say it would be something like 12-14 songs... with 3 rockers, 6 mid-tempo, and 3-5 outright ballads. A very similar structure to Raised on Radio and Trial by Fire.

Unfortunately, six songs would have "Love" in the title in some capacity.. and Cain's gayness would be all over the damn thing.

Jeez, I know that's been a good 'franchise' for Rod and he does those songs well, but when I see him singing those songs... I dunno. I'd rather hear "Reason To Believe"... or some of that stuff. He does the American Songbook stuff really well, but that stuff's already been done to death by a billion others...

Wish he and Woody would get back together and do a real soulful album of original stuff...

We may find out with the new Journey album that's due out anytime soon now. Like when Julian Lennon came out with that album after his father John Lennon's liberty was secured. I'm willing to bet that the new Journey album with Arnel will sound like SP is doing the vocals. It's not going to be a bad deal because it will be songs we've not heard before. Not like if it was just the top hits of the previous years with Journey fronted by SP.

WHAT Julian album are you talking about? You mean Valotte? Great album for the time.
Speaking of Lennon, WHAT THE FU** is the deal with the movie about Lennon's killer (who should always be nameless!). WHY would they make a movie about that piece of sh*t?

Julian Lennon came out with some work that got some serious air time if I recall correctly. The one song I remember was "Too Late for Goodbyes". Julian Lennon in that song sounded exactly like John Lennon. What made that album so successful was that the assasination of his father was still fairly a fresh issue and so the timing of Julian Lennon coming out and vocally sounding nearly an exact to John Lennon took many people by surprise, at least I was a bit surprised by the overwhelming resemblance.
