So very well said and I agree on all points, especially about not caring how high or low someone can sing. I think Arnel is great but there is absolutely no wow-factor for me there. I love it that you are an Eric Martin fan now, too. Talk about an underrated singer.

Can either one of you go one fucking post without mentioning Eric Martin, Steve Perry or JSS? :P

Just for that I'm going to mention EM everytime you mention AP. So back off baby! Image

Saint John wrote:Fair points, but stick to just the music. The rock and roll industry is a tough, nasty place. There are inherent risks when you join a band. Journey is an ever-changing entity and so long as you keep the music first and foremost, you shelter yourself from petty things that really don't affect you. If the new lineup interests you check out a show. If they don't, stay home, but don't let intra-band squabbles make your choice for you. You owe yourself more than that. You've been a fan too long.

You have a point, the industry can be nasty and you probably shouldn't base it solely on bad business decisions.....but we are all human, and it can be a hard when a band you liked and respected acts like a horses ass. Right or wrong, a lot of my musical enjoyment relies on the vocals. Especially first impressions of said vocals.

So, SJ I think that last (Eric Martin) year when I saw JSS (Eric Martin) he sang with such (Eric Martin) soul that I just (Eric Martin) couldn't help but (Eric Martin) think he was (Eric Martin) the right guy (Eric Martin) for Journey!

I have no negative talk (or feelings) against Arnel, he's someone I consider very important to my life. However, I do have lots of negative talk and feelings for those shitbag morons who are clogging up the forum with the race card horseshit!

And the board is a more peaceful and pleasant place because of it. Constructive criticism is one thing, but blasting on the guy when he has yet to perform a single show is shallow and mindless. Constructive, well thought out predictions would be OK, but over the top bullshit that makes the board's owner look like a zoo keeper is unwarranted and unwanted.

You are pretty correct, but I always keep my guard up. They all seemed to relocate but then a week or so ago, something dramatic happened and they all came back here but sort of amended their previous stances a tad. Underestimation is the first mistake. Acting on that underestimation will be the last mistake.

Like someone said, they are getting up there in age and probably don't feel like going in another direction. It was probably the label's decision also..How do you know the label didn't threaten to dump them? We don't know for sure, unless someone was in the room with them..Would it have really been Journey or Soul SirkUs..?

SS wow that cost neil about 300 grand he had to write off!!Yah they could've started a new era with Jeff and should've,but the tribute band and sort of guaranteed money looked easier to grab and easier to retire on.It's all just $$$$buisness!

Whatever Dan. You're a traitor and not to be trusted by ANYONE.

"It's a peaceful place" - That's very hypocritical. Considering you got arrested in Virginia for not being able to control yourself and your alcohol.

This place is peaceful now because if you do not toe the company line you're eliminated.

My recollection is they didn't have a record contract at the time Jeff joined up and that they only attracted label attention in response to the positive reviews from fans and critics of Jeff's performances during that double ticket tour with Def Leppard. Neal was quoted as saying Azoff was excited and told them they need to get this lineup into a studio (or something to that effect).

I too was wondering/worried that a Jeff fronted Journey would be Soul Sirkus with keyboards. I didn't dig Soul Sirkus at all. Then I heard Winds of Freedom and I really felt Jeff's delivery. He really emoted those crappy lyrics. It would have been a true change in their sound for the better (as compared to the Augeri years). The band would have finally moved on from sounding like Perry's station wagon. The analogy I give is sort of like how Van Halen sounded different but the same with Hagar on vocals after Roth's departure. I really think Jeff in Journey could have had that same result (maybe not monetarily, but creatively).

Honestly, I don't think Neal and Jon have the stones to attempt to move on from what they were with Perry. They believe Perry was the successful ingredient and they just want to replicate it as close as possible.

A low self-esteemed jackoff that has to brag about blowing loads in certain places to feel like a man. Then again, if I were built like a paper clip I'd probably do the same thing. I'll be in Cleveland for The Frontiers show in February...talk to me there fuckhead.

Winds of Freedom was an embarrasment and didn't bode at all well for the future if this was to be a new direction. To be fair even Perry himslef coudn't have polished that turd!
