The guy is human. And he's been through the marriages that we make joke fodder here. He's lived through their endings.
I hope that I am not out of place in saying this, because I consider Jeremey to be (an online) friend. Maybe when Sabrina and the unborn baby arrived Neal took a look, thought about it and decided "we can't do this, as perfect as this guy is for the job it wouldn't be right."
Didn't Jeremey himself say in his blog that Neal had a problem with Sabrina? That he found her too pushy and too controlling over Jeremy during the audition (or something of that nature)? This article makes it look like Jeremey declined their offer because of his family, but isn't it true that the band backed out on their offer to him? From what I recall from Jeremey's blog, he even called them back to tell them he would still be open to discussing the job after they told him they were moving too fast in making their decision...
