I wonder what Steve Perry's thoughts are on Arnel Pineda....

I can't help but wonder what he "thinks" about the latest Jrny singer being known as "the SP of the Phillipines" but, we will never really know. I imagine from what he's said in the past that he keeps the good memories of his time with them & doesn't bother with what they are doing. He seems to have a happy content life & is out & about enjoying it.
But...if I am really peeved at hearing they are re-recording the classics...I can only imagine what he feels! A slap in the face?

If you are divorced from someone long enough do you really care anymore? doubt it.

True...but when the new guy starts fucking around with your "kids" you do care.
good point...thats one thing we do know for sure....how much he cares about his "kids" that he fathered and what his legacy through them will be. You can divorce the other parent but not the kids. He probably doesn't mind them having some more kids of their own....but he's a protective father..so he probably doesn't like them messing with his kids and trying to reshape them and have a step dad taking them over....well I'm sure he cant feel too good about that when he raised them so well.

Oh I'd bet that Perry wants them on the road and wants them to be successful.
The more success, the more the back catalogue sells. The more the catalogue sells, the more income he has.
Not speculating whether or not he needs the $$$, but purely from a business stand point, I guarantee you he cares a lot.
And so do his accountants, lawyers, and business partners.

Hey, I completely followed that line of thinking. That is exactly how SP thinks of his songs. He has described them in just that fashion in previous interviews.

I guess you have to be a loon to understand. Call the men in the white coats to take me away.

Probably the same as what Elvis would think about the latest Elvis impersonator.

Dude. I'm tired of seeing this posted everywhere. There's a far cry difference between Journey moving on with new singers, and Elvis impersonators. It's quite the reach man.

Not really. It's exactly the same as if Elvis' band continued on after he died trying out several different Elvis impersonators and touring the country with them. How could it possibly be any different?

That makes me think about those commercial (and I can't remember what they were for now) where someone starts talking and then morphs into about 13 different people as they are talking.

Exactly... he might care... then he looks at the balance of his bank account, and then realizes he's making money and they are doing all the work for him.

Exactly.

And I'm sure he has an opinion all day long about it... but you'll never hear it. It's like RedJoe said - he's commented on their singer situation exactly twice in 10 years, and neither comment was extensive and both are barely worth mentioning. If y'all are excepting him to come out swinging, it's not gonna happen. When has ever pubilically behaved that way with regard to Journey? Never. But anyone expecting him to come out with supportive words and smiles is plain delusional. Because that sure as hell isn't gonna happen, especially considering what his ex-wives are up to these days.

Fucking with the kids INDEED. Anything that needs addressing in that area with be done through the appropriate channels. If anything comes out public, it won't be through him.

But ask yourself this... if this was my career, my music being trodden upon, how would *I* feel? And there's your answer.

If he has any thoughts at all, they are probably about as compliementary as the ones he had for Augeri since Arnel is just another guy who can sing the songs in a similiar fashion. That said, SP may have been more critical in his few known comments about Augeri because he was the initial replacement with the largest shoes to fill, and it had not been that long since the whole falling out with the band. I think there is a lot of potential for scrutiny within the diehard fan ranks, but I am not sure anyone is expecting as much or going to scrutinize Arnel the way Augeri was. Arnel is the replacement now after [2] other guys took the stage after Perry, so at this point Perry's probably laughing his ass off going..."Look at these bunch of losers, they can't move on without hiring someone to sound like I did."

If he had anything good to say about Jeff, I am sure it was because their was potential for them to go in a new direction with a different vocal sound.

Jeff and Steve actually met (way before JSS and Journey) and Steve bought a CD of Jeff's (or something like that). I read it on a website - let me go see if I can find it.

Thanks Kim, that was cool to read again! :D

Found out something else I was wondering about too.....as I scrolled down I ran across what each of the Talisman 7 songs was about. I wondered if "Forevermore" was about a certain person, and it is.

Thanks!

Yeah that's it...I only got to listen to part 1 though, I never got to listen to part 2  Steve sounds a bit scratchy but you can tell he was passionate about DSB and how it was going to be used for Sopranos. He mos def' didn't want to see someone get whacked with DSB playing in the background. So he was one of the few outside the Sopranos production crew that knew how it was going to be used before the finale was shown.
