OT: Best albums of 1980

OK...It's an 80s thing with me today...

My vote goes to Black Sabbath's "Heaven and Hell". Perhaps the most underrated metal album of all time.

This one's too tough for me right now. A LOT of great albums on on that list. I mean really, do I have to vote against The Boss?

This list is tough! Two of my favorite albums, EVER, by any band are Queen's "The Game" and REO's "High in Fidelity". The interesting thing is I thought a lot of REO's material flat out sucked, but for some reason, I always thought "High in Fidelity" was phenomenal!

Why does Air Supply keep showing up in these polls? :? Might as well add in some Manilow.

Hmmmm... yeah, Amazon had it as 1980, but then I see the official release is December 1979. Good call. The last great album of the '70's.

I love Air Supply and voted for them. That was my first real exposure to light pop, (I was force fed country music all my life) and it was the first time I heard music like that. I still love 'em and they actually stayed together. LOL

You're a brave one, Mr. Bobby. I logged on surprised they got a vote and here ya go claiming it.

I'll cut you a break since I've never heard the whole album and compared to pre-1980 country music maybe you have a point. Let me quess, Hank Williams, Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline, Dolly, Loretta Lynn and Johnny Cash? Personally, I'd rather listen to Cash than AS.

Back to the poll, I still haven't decided. This may require a listen off. For me, the top contenders are. REO H.I., Queen TG, Bruce TR, ACDC BIB, Rush PW and of course Departure.

I'm surprised that Back in Black didn't make a bigger splash here. What a great record.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Thanks StoneCold, I honestly don't think LOST IN LOVE is the best one of their albums, it was actually after they left Arista that they started putting out incredible music. But I had to be a rebel and vote for it here. LOL

Yes, the country music I was raised on was all you mentioned and lots of George Jones, Merle Haggard and Tammy Wynette. I think I was too young to appreciate country music then, but I've grown to love it now and also was a little immature to get a lot of the harder rock, but I've got that in my blood too.

Funny how many different tastes one person can have, huh? :-)

I voted for REO - your vote made him roll over, mine made him jump out of bed! :D

It's so odd - I consider myself an REO fan, but I only like about 50-70% of what they do! I buy it anyway, of course.

Genesis (Duke) is an amazing album. Go iTunes the samplers from it and it will remind you why they were such a popular band throughout the 80's.

Rip, I agree. It is definitely one of the most underrated metal albums EVER! And one of the best imho....

ANYthing but Back In Black.

A trite, hackneyed album by now.

Duke is a good little album.

I really like it but I also like "For Those About to Rock We Salute You" nearly as much, plus the song "Snowballed" kicks more ass than anything on BIB, in my opinion.
