Choose your favorite album of these top ones from 1985...

This was kind of a light year in music in my opinion but my pick is "Scarecrow" by John Mellencamp.

Well, according to this list, 1985 SUCKED! I will say that I thought 7800 Farenheit was a great album. It's before Slippery When Wet hit, so a lot of people didn't really know who Bon Jovi was. I think it's a very underrated album with a lot of great tracks!

Phew.

Kind of a lean year by the glorious '80s standards.
Collins' No Jacket Required is just a blockbuster than can't be denied (holy shit, 2 more ballads I like  in One More Night and We Said Hello, Goodbye).

Motley's Theatre Of Pain is kick-ass with Smoking In THe Boyz Room, Raise Your Hands To Rock, City Boy Blues...

Behind The Sun, the otherwise forgettable for me Clapton album has maybe his best overall song and an all-time cool riff in She's Waiting (gotta love the flutes and drums at the end, too).

I'll also take Tears For Fears/Big Chair, ZZ Top and Dire Straits Bros In Arms with the title track and So Far Away From Me going the subtle but stunning route.

"Scarecrow" is a fantastic album. Mellencamp's best IMO.

Heart's self-titled IS a great album...that's when they came back reinvented and lengthened their career.

Went with Dire Straits here.
Sting can sing, but if that cat gets any mellower he's gonna be doing retirement home tours in florida. All that tantric sex has drained his balls to the size of BBs.

Yes.
Other awesome albums of 1985 missing here are Howard Jones - Dream Into Action, Level 42 - World Machine, Mr Mister - Welcome to the Real World, Rush - Power Windows, Catching Up with Depeche Mode. Arcadia - So Red The Rose and Icehouse - Measure For Measure were very good too. How about Peter Gabriel - So, INXS - Listen Like Thieves, Robert Plane - Shaken N Stirred? Anyway, I voted for Tears For Fears. Hell I flew across the country to see them last year.

Yeah, I know...It only lets you add 20 options, so I had to leave some good ones off.

Wilkepedia states 1985, perhaps it's UK/US release dates. 1984 UK and then by the time the boat arrived at NY docks it was 1985, who the fuck cares, it should have been in both polls :x

motley crue-theatre of pain

a lot of hair bands owe their success to david lee roth era van halen and motley crue.plus motley crue had one of the first hair band ballads 'home sweet home' which broke the MTV record for most weeks at number one.lots of good underrated motley you don't hear much like 'louder than hell' and 'city boy blues'.lots of people said motley sold out with this album because their first two were more metal and then they had hard rock and ballads and started a glam image with theatre in '85.i got hit parader at the time and all the metalheads were bitching that motley was no longer like iron maiden and metallica.shit metallica ended up selling out more than motley ever did.good music is good music to me regardless of trying to keep it real or original for the fans that supported you from the beginning.

Play Deep
Songs From The Big Chair
Dream of the Blue Turtles

Speaking of the latter 2, why doesn't anyone make imaginative music anymore? :?

What a song, indeed. The bass and Mick Mars' rythm guitar is sort of like Eye Of The Tiger on crack.

Absolutely philthy.
