The wonderful PETA group KILLS 97% of their animals!!!

If this group doesn't disgust you, this might!

Death toll up to 17,400; overdue report describes PETA's deadliest year ever

WASHINGTON, Jan. 10 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- An official report from People for The Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), submitted nine months after a Virginia government agency's deadline, shows that the animal rights group put to death more than 97 percent of the dogs, cats, and other pets it took in for adoption in 2006. During that year, the well-known animal rights group managed to find adoptive homes for just 12 pets. The nonprofit Center for Consumer Freedom (CCF) is calling on PETA to either end its hypocritical angel-of-death program, or stop its senseless condemnation of Americans who believe it's perfectly ethical to use animals for food, clothing, and critical medical research.

Not counting animals PETA held only temporarily in its spay-neuter program, the organization took in 3,061 "companion animals" in 2006, of which it killed 2,981. According to Virginia's Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS), the average euthanasia rate for humane societies in the state was just 34.7 percent in 2006. PETA killed 97.4 percent of the animals it took in. The organization filed its 2006 report this month, nine months after the VDACS deadline of March 31, 2007.

"Pet lovers should be outraged," said CCF Director of Research David Martosko. "There are thousands of worthwhile animal shelters that deserve Americans' support. PETA is not one of them."

In courtroom testimony last year, a PETA manager acknowledged that her organization maintains a large walk-in freezer for storing dead animals, and that PETA contracts with a Virginia cremation service to dispose of the bodies. In that trial, two PETA employees were convicted of dumping dead animals in a rural North Carolina trash dumpster.

Today in Southampton County, Virginia, another PETA employee will face felony charges in a dog-napping case. Andrea Florence Benoit Harris was arrested in late 2006 for allegedly abducting a hunting dog and attempting to transport it to PETA's Norfolk headquarters.

"PETA raised over $30 million last year," Martosko added, "and it's using that money to kill the only flesh-and-blood animals its employees actually see. The scale of PETA's hypocrisy is simply staggering."

To speak with a spokesman contact Tim Miller at 202-463-7112.

If it's true, it's the most hypocritical thing I've ever heard. And I say that as an animal lover.

That seems a little harsh to me! Maybe we could just make them hang out with Michael Vick for awhile! That way they could see both ends of the spectrum. Then stay at Ted Nugent's ranch for a weekend!!!

How the fuck would you know? Did Rush tell you?

All three of those organizations do a great deal to help worthwhile causes, something you fucking conservatives have no idea about.

As someone who works in animal conservation, I can tell you that PETA does 98% harm and 2% good to the animal world. They work against conservation efforts, "educate" people with false information, use extreme tactics, and are ignorant of the policies of some of the things they fight against (zoos, sanctuaries, etc.)

The problem is when celebrities endorse PETA (for all the right reasons), all their fans decide that those who are for PETA love animals and those who are against PETA hate animals.

If anyone wants ammo against PETA (and evidence that PETA actually works AGAINST animal welfare) I encourage you to look up what went on with Primarily Primates. I also encourage you to look at some of PETA's champions like "Dr" Lynn Miles and her pet Orangutan, Chantek (for a good dose of hypocrisy). Also look at Steven Wise who would like to prosecute you if you've ever worked for a zoo.

Then look at some of the things PETA is against - like zoos and the captive breeding programs done (which have saved several species from extinction) and behavioral research centers like "the Living Links Center" which have done more to educate the public on the actual behaviors of great apes and the conservation plights of great apes than any PETA poster.

PETA is like the senator Palpatine of animal welfare - appearing to be its greatest champion while actually being its greatest enemy.

...and mind you - I am a total tree hugger, have worked for greenpeace and have spent all my professional life working in animal conservation and I HATE PETA!

Don't lump good groups like greenpeace et al. in with shitty nutty old lady groups like PETA.

Conservatives have gotten a bad stereotype as being greedy, materialistic people who have no respect for animals or the environment. There are some of those out there, but that has nothing to do with conservatism. I'm all for capitalism and freedom, but also the environment. I also haven't littered since I was a kid, and I won't drive a gas guzzling SUV just because I have the right to (though it's more the cost of gas than anything else). I'm never going to have a chip on my shoulder about what my "rights" and "freedoms" are, and use them as an excuse to be a selfish jerk like some seem to do.

That being said, I'm also not into B.S and propaganda no matter which side it comes from, left or right. Many of these animal rights and environmental organizations, and also the Global Warming movement, are only political tools to advance a far leftist agenda, and they often focus on making mankind or America the enemy. Some engage in flat-out domestic terrorist tactics. They are for sheep only who are easy to rile up and corral, not for thinking people.

Propaganda is always used to control people to suit the power interests of the few, never to free people. Freedom comes thru education, and provides an inoculation against propaganda.

Yeah like threatening to kill Ted Nugent's kids because he hunts.

I also read a story about some PETA people who broke into a restaurant, took live lobsters from a salt water tank, and released them into a fresh water lake.

Can you say DUMB ASSES?

Haha... Agreed on PETA!

About the Nuge, I used to really get a kick out him, but have started lumping him into that "chip on your shoulder about the freedoms" thing I was mentioning above. I get the feeling that he flagrantly waves his rights around just to spite naysayers. I've heard stories from some people that have spent time with him that make me think he's got a screw loose going upstairs besides just a genuine love for hunting. Sounded almost like he has a sadistic love for hunting and killing animals given any opportunity, and he sort of wraps it in this Native American mystical spirit bonding crap. My opinion is I don't think he does a lot of good for how people perceive hunting or gun rights, unfortunately.

Ya know, my take is, enjoy your freedoms and just be responsible and respectful of others in the process. No need to be an a**hole about it...
