That's right, another "Neil". Yep, I ripped off Rainbow, ya got me!

Well shit, I thought it was from Steve Austin. :?

Bionic ears block out Journey.

 Not him, Stone Cold Steve Austin, the wrestler.

Yep, I knew it, just wanted to pull out the unexpected "REAL" Steve Austin.

I have a friend at work named Steve Austin. He's 100% native American. How'd he get that name? He's a huge OU fan as am I.

Joe Lynn Turner's a great singer. He's kind of similar to Jimi Jamison and Lou Gramm. Maybe even a little like Paul Rodgers too?

Can't wait for that new Survivor disc to come out and sell about 123 units!

Meanwhile, the world will be blessed to receive an all new release from the man himself.

YKMW, you do know he is probably the greatest songwriter in our time right? Yea, just a mile or ten better than fruity faggot who plays keyboards in Journey.

He can write chords that Neal couldn't think of.

Whatever, my boy BA is releasing new music, touring large venues, and going to the HOF. Meanwhile Survivor is alive on a MR forum only.

Andrew, the members in BA's band ALL are better than Survivors guys and YOU know it.

Survivor's guitarist Frankie Sullivan is a way better guitarist than who ever BA's guitarist is. And the same goes for Survivor's drummer Marc Droubay being a much better Rock drummer than Ba's drummer.

Even I am not sure about that....Keith Scott is phenomenal....and Mickey Curry on drums...phenomenal....Tommy Mandel on keys....phenomenal :)

Mickey Curry drummed for BOTH Survivor and Bryan Adams...Curry was the drummer on the Too Hot To Sleep album!!!!

BA vs Survivor

Postby Tracie555 » Tue Jan 15, 2008 2:44 am

Holy Crap!!! I can't believe that Survivor is winning??? I like Survivor and all, but damn BA is an amazing talent. He has been writing shit for people forever. Hmmm, still shocked

Doesn't anyone remember that Survivor coffee commercial??? That should have said it all

Tracie, it's obviously a protest vote against me.

Can you imagine a Survivor/BA show with BA opening?

BA plays, and 75% of the crowd leaves.

Now, I do like Survivor, but it needs to be said and railed against, they are NOT more talented, and are not more entrenched in music history. Hell, if Sylvester Stallone wasn't alive, they would never have made it.

Laura, wake up, and compile some aggregate lists, showing record sales, concert hall differences, and lists of hit songs. Do it Now!

I've been awake since this poll was up.

Well, the statistics do not lie...No matter how much we love BA or Survivor, facts are facts. In a versus competition like this one,BA will win hands down.
However, the results so far are not reflecting the true situation...objectively.Let's keep in mind that there was a Survivor board here on MR long before the BA one - many of the votes for Survivor are coming from the diehard fans...They outnumber the BA diehards... on MR,of course. :P

God knows I personally love both names,it's great music. But I'm more into Bryan because he constantly came up with something new and good.
Ok,facts.Hits that topped the charts,got radio airplay,album sales,etc.

Survivor hit singles

Poor Man’s Son – Top 40
Eye Of the Tiger - #1 Billboard
American Heartbeat - #17 in the U.S.
I Can’t Hold Back - #13 in the US
High On You - #8 in the US
The Search Is Over - # 4 in the US
Burning Heart - #2 Billboard
Is This Love - #9 in the US
Across The Miles - #16 in the US A.C. chart

"When Seconds Count" went Gold in the US.

Bryan Adams hit singles

Somebody - Top 20 US
Heaven - US # 1 in 1985
Summer Of '69 - US Top 10
It's Only Love - US Top 10
Heat Of The Night - US Top 10
Everything I Do - # 1 in the US & UK (16 weeks in the UK chart @ no.1)
Can't Stop This Thing We Started - Top 10 US & UK
Thought I'd Died And Gone To Heaven - Top 20 US
Please Forgive Me - Top 10 US/UK
Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman - Top 10 UK
Open Road - Top 20 UK

"Reckless" and "So Far So Good" went 5 times Platinum in the US.Each.
The single "Everything I Do" sold 3 million copies only in the US.

As for the venues...Really now.Adams is filling a stadium in a nanosecond,he's a king in Europe and will get radio airplay with any new single he'll release.

Survivor...I dunno.Maybe this? http://www.bryancountynews.net/news/archive/1391/

Sorry, but this is how things work in a fair competition. :)

I've seen both multiple times. Survivor is king. Bryan puts on a good show though. No doubt.

Maybe it's just me but, I've seen BA live and it did nothing for me. Too "bubble gum" and commercial...plus, I just can't get over that "crater face" thing... :P

Survivor, to me, just seems like a "Journey wanna-be", only with much less talent and song-writing ability overall.

And Journey's not commercial? Fuck, at least BA plays new music and obscure tunes. Journey plays the same shit every night.

Show Playlists

Postby Rockindeano » Tue Jan 15, 2008 6:44 am

That's one area where Springsteen is definitely King. With the exception of Born to Run, he gives his band a new playlist every concert day at noon. Always different. He says he likes to keep his band on it's toes.

And he has got a Helluva alot more known songs than does Journey, so everyone gets what they want at a Bruce show.

Yup...definitely agree.

The Boss busts his butt every show...every tour...every album.

He does not get in a "rut" like alot of other bands do.

Journey included.

BTW, I'll take a long shot with this one, but, when they were together Midnight Oil were INCREDIBLE and always broke new territory...plus they were about the BEST live act I ever witnessed. Stunning.

Jim Peterik of Survivor is probably the greatest Rock songwriter of our time, the guys a songwriting machine.

If I were to name every song that Peterik has written I'd be here non-stop for the next week.

I love 38 Special, but almost all of their hits were written/co-written by Jim Peterik.

Ask people with-in the music industry who they think is a better songwriter between Peterik and Adams.

Seriously, I like some of Adams songs, he's good, but he's no Jim Peterik when it comes to songwriting.

I just found out that Bryan Adams first "hit" song was a frickin Disco song.

When's the last time Bryan Adams was asked to do a tv commercial?

More importantly, when's the last time Bryan Adams played for 20-million people in the same night???

Let's see, ESPN used Open Road, a new song at the time, for it's 50 states in 50 days campaign 2 years ago.

You do know the Survivor commercial was a joke on Survivor right?

By the way, I have no idea where you live, but you're about a pathetic sonofabitch. Jim Peterik over BA? You do know BA has triple the hits than Survivor right? I willing to bet he has sold quadruple or more than Survivor.

You lose on all fronts. Now get the fuck outta here until you can make a valid argument. Even I admit when I lose. You are fucking pathetic.

Fuckin Survivore OPENED for REO 5 years ago. REO...REO Speedwagon. That says it all right there.
