Competition Winner Wore Patriots Jersey In Unfriendly Stadium[/size]POSTED: 6:00 pm EST January 15, 2008

EXETER, N.H. -- Football fans can be quick to show their displeasure for hated rivals, but some say fans at the Indianapolis Colts-San Diego Chargers game this weekend went too far when they booed a 15-year-old girl from New Hampshire.

Anna Grant, of Startham, N.H., was being honored on national television for winning the NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass and Kick Competition in the 14- to 15-year-old girls' division. She was named among the other winners of the competition.

"Then, it got down to me, and they said, 'Anna Grant from New England,' and they're all, like, 'Boo!'" Grant said

I heard some of that during the ceremony....they're kids for God's sake...I thought it was cool to have the teams represented. Kinda shitty. I wouldn't do that to an Eagles kid if they were at Texas Stadium.

If it happened in Philly it would be headline ESPN news for 3 days.

Santa, Jimmy Johnson, Michael Irvin, JD Drew would all be brought up ad nauseum.

Other scumbag fans will get a pass, though.

Philly, Dallas, NJ, and I dare to say San Francisco would ALL be chastised if it had happened in those places. But not Indy.

Dallas would NOT.

You guys have no negative rep at all.

Only ones that even come close are NY and OAK (reputation-wise).

You'd be suprised. Think about it....with how much everyone hates Dallas....if the fans started acting like that towards a bunch of kids...the backlash from the media would be horrible.

Colts fans aren't used to losing, since the refs are all being paid off every game...the Chargers would have won by 14 had it not been for that "holding" call and the two phantom "pass interference" calls...let alone all the calls they got last year against the Patriots.

Give me a break. I'm not a big Colts fan but the holding call was legit as the announcers for that game pointed out and one of the two pass interference calls was legit also. The other was definitely a bad call.

I don't know which announcers you're referring to, but all four guys on the post-game show as well as numerous ESPN analysts almost universally agreed the holding call was horrendous - and other angles actually show Addai throwing #32 to the ground after grabbing him. In other words, the call was reversed.

Let me say that I definitely agree with you that Robert Kraft is a class act and a GREAT owner! He does what all owners should do...stay the hell out of the way and let the football people run the team (Are you listening Jerry Jones)!

As for the story...not much of a story here. Sure, it sucks that it was an impressionable teenager that took the booing. That said, I can GUARANTEE you that if that girl were on the field at Fenway Park with a Yankees jersey on, her reception wouldn't have been any different! Also, I think because the girl was 15, she probably understands that it was the laundry they were booing and just stuff that ALL fans do!

If that's the case, and we may be talking about different plays, then the Chargers did what good teams do and overcame the bad refs.

Dude...you're not giving the Chargers enough credit. Don't get me wrong...I thought the Colts would win that game, but, to call the Chargers "weak" is probably a bit of a stretch. They are 12-2 in their past 14 games, and are only giving up 12 points a game in the past 6 weeks! I definitely think the Chargers run their mouths WAY too much, but they have some talent. Tomlinson is as dangerous as anyone in the NFL, even on half a leg! Also, the Chargers D is VERY solid! Their linebackers and secondary are both better than what the Patriots have. The big difference in this game is at QB and coach. Rivers is a stiff, and I am more worried about Volek than I am Rivers. I saw Volek throw up numerous 400 yard passing games, when he was in Tennessee. The dude can sling the rock! Brady is FAR superior to ANYTHING the Chargers can put on the field and Bellichick matching wits with Norv Turner isn't even a fair fight!
