Rhiannon wrote:"Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely" ruined the Backstreet Boys for me. What?!? Don't laugh, I'm serious. As a teenager of the latter 90s, avoiding those songs were damn near impossible (thanks, Abingdon High Senior prom 2000!!). Not that I liked them to begin with, but I'll admit to listening to and remembering most of the songs. I had the boy band phase years before they came along w/ NKOTB.

I still listen to "Tearing Up My Heart" by N'Sync every once in a while. :D Good song. 8)

I will admit to still liking and listening to those guys. They did a version of "Sailing" on their first album... I still like it better than Christopher Cross' version. 8)

I still squeal like a 15 year old when this song starts up. Freshman year winter formal, sneaking a sip of Boone's Farm in the locker room and coming back out and dancing to this like we were all crazy!! ...Damn, where does the time go??

Yeah...OK. You were in "the locker room" and you were sipping Boones Farm? My guess is that the quarterback of the football team had his sack bouncing off your chin like Mike Tyson hitting the speed bag.   :P

Dave has a good voice, and he sounds better than he has in years. You're definitely in the 99th percentile minority here, pal.

Otherwise I'm with you.

My vote would have to go with "Boston's" Corporate America. The late, great Brad Delp was the most under-utilized voice in the history of rock, and it's a shame that the once-brilliant Scholzie put out this pile of crap in what turned out to be Brad's swan song.

I actually liked "Corporate America" (the song), although I don't at all care for its political message.

FireHouse won the Best New Hard Rock/Metal Band at the 1991 American Music Awards. They beat out Alice in Chains and Nirvana. C.J. Snare of FireHouse is the only living singer out of the three bands. Hair Metal wins!

I love Van Halen and have more songs by them on my favorites list than any other band or artist. That being said, David Lee Roth is not a good singer. He does sound better live than he has in many years but that in no way means he's a good singer. He's adequate if he stays within his limited range. He's a great front man but a poor singer.

Not a chance...Vince would stumble over a cigarette butt and knock himself out on the side of the bar.

Dave can work a crowd, no doubt. Plus, he's still doing it. Gotta give him credit for that too. He would probably be much more fun to party with as well.

I've seen SP and Dave in their primes, multiple times, between '82 and '86.

Dave is a slightly superior frontman, but SP's incredible live voice gives him the overall edge as "Greatest Lead Singer".

In '86 I met this guy in Hawaii who was BIG Journey fan, TILL Perry came along. Flabbergasted I asked what the hell was wrong with him to drop J like that. He said didn't like the "hand waving". Or is this a prob. with the original Journey fans?

I think DLR and Steve Perry do the same job from different angles.

DLR in my opinion is the wacky nuts frontman with all the moves and jokes and would joke a woman into bed.
Steve Perry on the other hand has (or had) a truelly fantastic voice and connected with the ladies on an an emotional level.

Same job.. different approach from where i look at it..

back to the original topic.. why oh why did skid row decide to re release 'I remember you' as a punked up version with the new singer. I listened to it last night and is shocking compared to the original 'classic'
