The only meaningless stat out there is Youngest to do blah blah blah. I prefer accomplishments in fastest time.

I anticipate 1 hell of a game, and I hope that the Chargers D punishes Brady. I wouldn't take Sanders over LT because he just isn't as complete a package.

We'll see what happens Sunday John...good luck to your team.

It will be over by half time.....BUT, If you are that serious and sure they will win, please, please, please, please PM me. I have $5000.00, yes five thousand that the Pat's will win straight up. I would like to make an official bet with you.

Seriously, you have to be high. Atlanta screwed the pooch by trading up to take Vick instead of standing pat with the #4 or #5 (can't remember which) and not picking up LT. A huge steal of the draft.

LT IS BAD ASS 8)
His knee feels fine. Chargers are playing possum. Fucking 4-Letter Network has got you all hypnotized. Like sheep, the mantra is Patriots can't be beat. Fuck all that, if Brian Billick didn't pussy out on that 4th down play, then all this path to perfection crap wouldn't exist.

THE PRESSURE IS ALL ON NEW ENGLAND. Wouldn't it absolutely suck to blow a perfect season by losing to a team with it's 3 best All-Pros nicked?

THAT WOULD SUCK INDEED!!! :P

To explain this more clearly for those who didn't pick up on it, Atlanta traded the #4 pick of the draft AND Tim Dwight to San Diego, for the #1 pick which they used for Vick. San Diego then used Atlanta's pick on Tomlinson.

Dude...are you fucking nuts??? Sanders wasn't "as complete a package"??? You're either 21 and didn't see Barry Sanders play or simply never paid attention to anyone not wearing a lightning bolt on the side of their helmet! Listen, I'm admittedly a Patriots fan, but have been a pretty passionate football fan, my entire life. I have ZERO allegiance toward Detroit or San Diego, and I honestly don't believe you'd find ANYONE outside of San Diego, who actually saw Sanders play, say Tomlinson is the better back!

For the record, I think Tomlinson is a VERY good player, but I'm tired of hearing assholes like Shottenheimer tell the world that he's the greatest ever, because he simply isn't! For me, Tomlinson isn't even really in the discussion as "the greatest ever", at this point. He may very well enter the discussion when his career is over, but after 7 seasons, he simply isn't there, just because he scores all the touchdowns on a team that never has any receivers! And please don't talk to me about Gates, because the guy is FAR more overrated than Tomlinson is. The guy has exactly ONE season that he has managed to crack 1000 yards receiving, and I'm not as impressed with the guy as everyone else is!

The reason you can't always count on stats as your barometer is that there are some guys who simply have no desire to play forever, and Sanders did what Jim Brown did...he walked away, on top of his game (1500 yards rushing his final season)! The other thing is the teams these guys played on. Go talk to some Lions fans and ask them how putrid some of the teams Sanders played on were! The dude NEVER had ANY offensive line, and still managed to win rushing title, after rushing title! Also, Tomlinson has a GREAT 4.5 yard career average, over a 7 year career (and that includes this season). Barry Sanders career average was 5.0 yards per carry, with ZERO offensive line help, over a 10 year career! The only thing Tomlinson does that Sanders didn't is throw a touchdown once a season, and I could care less about my running back throwing the rock!

I'd love to wish you luck this weekend, but I wouldn't want to lie  Truth be told, I actually hate the Chargers because of how much they run their mouths! They've been doing it for several years now, and it's gotten them nowhere. Hopefully, for the sake of their fans, they'll mature at some point, and shut their pie holes and just play football! Until that time, keep sending us the idiotic comments that guys like Igor Olshansky make! The Boston media loves going to the Patriots and asking them how they feel about a Charger saying the Patriots should be afraid of them! Good luck with your winter vacation plans

I won't argue with you about the Patriots and Chargers. But although you've got the names right, you're bragging about the wrong back. IMO, and I think in the opinions of most who saw him alot, Jim Brown was the best. Period.

That's even more ridiculous than your first.....Like I said, Parker would have won the rushing title hands down with no blocking....But anyway, NUMBER ONE O PLAYER???? C'mon, that's not even realistic. Brady, Farve, Moss, Welker, Fuck I'd throw Peterson ahead of him too....His blockers are mediocre at best.....

Sorry, Dean, seems you're wrong on this one brother.....LT is good, but far from the best. That O line was built around him. He should have 2000 yards. Paker, Peterson and even someone like Jacobs from NY who make their own yards and PLAY HURT, that is an athlete.....

LT will be out by half time......Choking away with Rivers and the rest of the Bolts. Their season will be over by 5:00pm Sunday....

Gary...

If you read what I said, I never once said that Barry Sanders was the best running back ever. I simply said you were out of your mind if you think LT is a better back than Barry Sanders was! Sanders played on HORRIBLE teams, and was still the most dominant offensive player (the real LT was the most dominant defensive player) I have ever seen! If you're truly a football fan, you would understand just how difficult it is to be that good, as a running back, when everyone else around you SUCKS!

I'm a bit of a football historian, so am quite cognizant of the great Jim Brown. I also agree that most football people do say Jim Brown was the greatest, ever. From the tapes I've seen of Jim Brown, I think it would be tough to say otherwise. That said, Jim Brown's final season was 1965. I was born in 1970, so I obviously didn't see the guy play. Barry Sanders is the best running back I've ever seen play. In all honesty, there isn't even anyone a close second, for me. Again, I'm not from Detroit, never been to Detroit, and could care less about Detroit! I just call them as I see them! For the record, Jim Brown's career average over 9 seasons was 5.2 yards per carry (which I believe is the highest ever), and Sanders averaged 5.0 yard per carry, over a 10 year career. Two totally different runners, but both GREAT running backs! On another note, if Bo Jackson didn't destroy his hip, he would have been another Jim Brown, as he had the same running style.

I think calling LT a "pussy" is a bit over the top. That said, I have to tell you that I was STUNNED he was on the sidelines for most of that Colts game. If they said he was out of this game with the so-called "hyper-extended" knee, I wouldn't feel that way. The fact that he isn't even on the injury report this week really makes me scratch my head. It's not like the Colts game was in the bag. That game was VERY much in jeopardy, and I honestly can't believe that if he wasn't all that seriously hurt (and he clearly wasn't if he's not even on the injury report this week) that he would not go back in that game. I've honestly never seen anything like that. He was walking around on the sideline and didn't really look like he was limping or even favoring his knee. I'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt and just assume the team trainer told Turner he couldn't go, because nothing else really makes sense. As for whether or not he's a first ballot hall of famer, at this point...I honestly think he is. I think he's done enough to warrant it, just by virtue of his consistency, over the first 7 years of his career! That said, he still whines WAY too much! It's simply not dignified!

John, you have to understand that the Chargers gave Michael Turner over $2 million to sign for this one year, even though he'll then be an unrestricted free agent. That's how much they think of him. He plays a lot every week. As good as LT is, his replacement, could, and after this year probably will, start for another team. There were a lot of them trying to sign him this year. I KNOW LT is the man for San Diego, but of all the things that happened last week, that was by far the least of my worries.

I understand what you're saying. I just wanted to point out there was all this discussion about LT and Sanders, when the other guy you mentioned was better than either. I grew up in Wisconsin watching Lombardi's Packers, so I got to see Brown twice a year. That man was a STUD. He always scared the shit out of the mighty Packer defense. And yes, Bo was fantastic, but IMO, still no Jim Brown. One other whose career was cut short but was UNREAL was Gayle Sayers.

Go Pack and Bolts...........

LT and Rivers are both whiny babies when things aren't going their way. I can't wait to see Rivers lose.

Shit, NIG...I've always seen you as a pretty astute dude.

Never would have figured you to be so fucking whack as to buy into all the BS about LT and PR.

I'm disappointed. to say the least...

Thanks for the compliment, JRoxx. I base my opinion on LT whining about the Pats and insulting Belichick publicly, and getting up and walking away from Rivers when Rivers sat down next to him on the bench. Way to support your QB.

And Rivers continually makes an ass out of himself by screaming at Jay Cutler, calling him a baby (pot kettle back) and taunting the Indy fans. No class whatsoever. I will take great delight in watching them fall to the Pats today. Nothing personal. :)

Belichick deserved every word dished out by LT, IMHO. And LT didn't "get up and walk away" from Rivers. Both of them put that notion to rest in a presser the day after that game.

As far as Rivers? He is what he is...a feisty, fired-up kinda guy, and I like him for that. As long as he's the leader of this team, and they continue to win with him under center, why would a life-long Bolts fan like me complain?

And regarding him "taunting" the Indy fans, you've got that ass-backwards...it was the other way around, with him throwing smack right back at them, which is exactly what most would have done. Or did you miss that? Maybe you didn't actually watch the game.

Anyway...the time has arrived. Here's to a great game today...
