I would like to see BA this year keep me up dated when he is playing near the Baltimore DC area. It would be good to hear a real band play liveRockindeano wrote:That guy in my av is the greatest guy in music. That guy gets it. Journey should maybe take a cue from him and learn how to treat their fans...you know, the people that make them rich. BA has 50 times the fans Journey does and could buy them 20 times over. Proof that class wins out over greed and debauchery.

St John, you can thank me next year.

Poll 95% of Journey's concert audience this summer and I guarantee they won't know or care that Schon and Cain act like assholes, they fired Jeff in a shitty way, and they made Augeri walk the plank. You act like they're gonna say "They did?!?! Fuck them, I'm outta here!!!" They'd turn to me and say "Get a fuckin' life, dude." And rightly so.
Why the Hell would I A) poll a Journey audience and B) why would I care?
Fact is, I don't care who the fuck knows what, I and many people do, and I won't be a party to it. Dude, they are scumbags, all of them. Every single one of the four(not AP). I wonder how the Hell they sleep at night?

Has there ever been a tax increase that stimulated the economy? If you say yes, you're either lying like the guys this board is named after or have no idea about economics 101.
I work 50-60 hours a week (nights, weekends, whatever it takes to get the job done), making all sorts of sacrifices such as missing kids games, etc....but, I'm not a "working man." That burns the hell out of me.
I worked two jobs to get through college and put in the extra effort in my career to move up some in the world. I am not rich, but the D's seem to think so. They want to take more from those that earn it and give it to others that don't. I don't quite get it. It's supposed to make me feel good that they are who judges as to whom has too much and too little? Yah, like Sen. Kennedy and John Edwards has a clue what it is like. Give me a break.
No one talks about the risk involved in gaining wealth. Every day people put their businesses and personal wealth on the line to take things to the next level, which often includes employing more people. Take away the reward and no one will take risks. See what that does to advance our country.
The corporate boards are who should be taken to task for agreeing to pay the outrageous salaries these days. There may be a few individuals who mean that much to their respective corporations, but it'd be hard to convince me of such. Again, the free market system has to prevail in the end though.
Sure there are those in need that will never have a chance, and they should be helped. However, they need to reform the system to get those that can work off their asses and into the workforce. That is one of the things Bill Clinton did get right. Check how much of our tax money actually goes to help them versus just feeding the bureaucratic monster in DC. You'd be shocked. They need to incentivize charity donations and get that out of government.
Cut government spending. Cut taxes. Gotta do both.
Peace.

Wow.... Here's a deal for you SJ and others who feel this way. Take that top 5%, have them cut their own salary/compensation packages/stocks held/pension plans/golden parachutes and time buyouts down to a RESPECTABLE amount of dough (heavens knows THEY are not the actual decision makers within the corporations that they run, rather the figure head), take the rest and put it into respectable salaries for those "lazy ass" employees that they pay minimum wage (if they pay them minimum, there's more money traveling upward into their own pockets, no?).
I agree that this nation is FULL of class envy - though it runs both ways (as is evident in your own words up there). There is no simple answer, but surely what I just laid out just might work to start us in the right direction. I mean really, is ANY CEO or COO worth nine figures a year (with all the stock options/compensation packages, et al)? Personally, I'm not seeing it. Hell, even a few of the glory boys have seen the light and are throwing bucks back at the lower end (I'm thinking Gates with his scholarships, etc. amongst others).
About the only thing I know is the status quo that we have now will ultimately weaken the country to the point of being ripe fruit for the bravest taker - and far too many that are outside of the 5% (who are neatly tax sheltered) will be willing to go along with the outside forces.

Dude, that argument is so fucking ridiculous. Not everyone has the capability to make it to CEO or COO or even manager status. So, we just say, "fuck you" to the ones who don't make it?

Handouts and excuses...par for the course. Trying to make me think that people that go to school, educate themselves and ultimately do well are the problem with this country is a colossal waste of your time. Most have the capacity to be that CEO or COO, but we simply don't have the discipline, drive and/or determination. I'll admit that I'm one. However, I'll never fault or attempt to insinuate that they need to give anything back that they've earned. They don't. If you dislike capitalism move to Russia or China.

Actually I'm fine with it as I like the original version, but also really like the John Payne version. More music in the same vein is ok with me. But just imagine if there were 2 Journeys?

Now that is the biggest joke ever. There are some links on here where a poster has had to "translate" what the boy wonder is saying. Am I being asked to learn a new language to understand what he is saying. To hell with that shit. Arnel Pinata couldnt sing his way out of a paper bag where Steve Perry is concerned. The Filipino's that make that kind of a statement are only showing their true ignorance and stupidity.
One the other hand, Journey is looking for a good polyglot, one who is experienced at interpreting also.

And sure enough, there they were, trying to look inconspicuous on a park bench by a big fountain, listening to a cover band playing their songs, with a singer who sounded remarkably like the guy who originally sang them.

A) that title. The Steve Perry of The Philippines" wasn't self-imposed, which means the press called him that for attention. If others took that and rolled with it, that's their drop. All along the guy has said till he is blue in the face that there is only 1 voice and that he'd simply step aside, "No hard feelings."
B) Every video link except for the CNN was done in The Philippines. I translated the Tagalog because I felt that it would be a benefit to hear what he was telling his people in the Philippines so that'd you see and hear everything he was saying.
C) I can't believe how so many posters interpreted the musings of a few to be that of everyone who is Filipino. Hey you have these links here on MR that show any of that? I challenge you to produce one. I know it ain't me.
I wonder if Arnel was a Filipino guy born in raised in San Francisco and raised American would half this turmoil even be needed?
I mean a Portuguese guy born in Hanford did great. Should there be a limit to a guy born in a land 14 hours a way by plane? Why should there be? That's the question.
If some of you are really this dense...that's fricken amazing. You don't honestly believe you have to learn a new language to hear Arnel. Just go back to saying that since he ain't American, then he ain't worthy.
I can understand that some don't like how previous singers were dealt with. I can understand why some people didn't like the way Jeremey was treated, I say again, he would've been a fine choice. The Roanoke article talked about how much he too sounds like Steve Perry. http://www.roanoke.com/entertainment/wb/146327And sure enough, there they were, trying to look inconspicuous on a park bench by a big fountain, listening to a cover band playing their songs, with a singer who sounded remarkably like the guy who originally sang them.
So why don't some of the geniuses say what is the major difference, since they both sound remarkably like Steve Perry? Jeremey, you have free reign on what you want to say if you'd like. Assuming that you, not Arnel, got the gig and the band told you that you were going to re-record the dirty dozen, what would you do?
Oh and why wasn't the word multilingual used? When you live in a foreign land being bi-lingual it's pretty easy to come by.
When it gets down to it, I'm curious, What is the #1 reason overall for all the hate for just Arnel?
Assuming that there are many of you who have strong vocals, if they called you, flew you to the Bay, and then liked how you sounded and offered you the gig and you said yes, at that time right there...do you have enough pull to say, guys...we need to get away from the dirty dozen.

Look dude, there's nothing wrong with American people wanting an American singer. It's ok if I only buy American cars isn't it?
I'm pretty sure Hungarians would be pissed off if I were to go sing in some Budapest based rock band. Firstly because I can't sing for shit, and secondly because I ain't Hungarian. That doesn't bother me.
I honestly don't care where Arnel is from, if he can do the job, he's alright with me, but I will stand up for people who are patriotic and I don't see a damn thing wrong with it. If it's alright in the rest of the world, it's alright here too.
