the band booked a big tour with DL
SA was losing his voice
the band covered up this fact by making him mime his own vocals live from another show
a poster here caught on to it and brought it to everyones attention
some people resented this poster for doing so , and blamed the poster for the debacle
a blog was started to prove the facts
the band denied there was ever any lipping going on
jss was brought in to save the tour
jss was rough on the early dates but still got great reviews
jss started to nail the songs live
BT and MR had a war
andrew flew to LA for a jss fronted show , the interviews were great
jss became a member of the band when SA was officailly let go
jss brought most of the fans together because he wasnt trying to sing just like perry
the england vocals were out of this world
the poster that brought it to our attention was vindicated
BT closed
jss was fired for being too classy and talented and for caring too much about the fans
SA finally vindicated as well

So please don't try and play both sides of the fence. It is fine if you didn't like the guy but why still try and mash him into the ground two years after he's left the band. You got what you obviously wanted. No SA in Journey so move on.

WHOA WHOA WHOA THERE FELLA! That's BULLSHIT!

Either you have me confused with someone else's post or you're just flat out lying! I've never ONCE said a bad thing about Augeri as a person. Not in this thread, not in ANY thread. I've always said he's a nice guy. The only thing I've ever brought up was his qualifications as lead singer in Journey.

I challenge you to show me where I ever said word one about Augeri's character in a negative light!

Put your money where your mouth is bucko. Show me the quote from this thread or any other thread on any board anywhere. Provide a link to the page it's on.

AND WHEN YOU CAN'T DO SO, I EXPECT YOU TO POST AN APOLOGY.

Dear moron,

Now I see where you're confused. You have a problem understanding the english language. My comment was referring to him as a singer, not as a person. You again, drew an erroneous conclusion. Did you also think Rick was referring to Augeri's personality when he said he liked him and he was good in his heyday? If so, by your logic, that mean Augeri being good in his heyday means he was a good person at one point and now no longer is.

Right. Because obviously I'm complaining about Augeri the person, not his voice.

Put down the tall boy and clear your head before you post.

Well my friend sir expert on all things - when you sing with emotion, then the PERSON and the singer are one and the same. So to call him a piece of shit as a singer is exactly the same as calling him a piece of shit as a person.

Okay, you're officially out of your fucking mind. I'm done responding to you. Thank you for showing your bizarre thought process to the world. I'm sure everyone will now take your comments with a truckload of salt.

And here was my follow up to his saying "he was a genuinely nice guy, you have to admit that" which you conveniently left out:

I absolutely give him that. One thing has nothing to do with the other. I don't disparage his character one iota. In fact I think his personality is the majority reason he was hired in the first place. Neal wanted zero drama and zero ego with any new lead singer and Augeri certainly fits that bill. He worked his ass off. Great stage presence, just not a qualified vocalist and all the protooling done to his voice shows that.

Dear tasteless motherfucker

If your original post was more clear, I would have known that and not brought up tapegate.

His part is done, yet it won't be finished for awhile?!? Seems odd with the timing, if Shirley is the producer, or is he only working some of the tracks? Sounds like only partial involvement

Hmm, and Arnel says new album comes out in the summer. Does sound like only partial involvement.

Yeah, I picked up on that too. I think he could just mean that the whole package won't be done for awhile and ready for release, but he's mixed all the songs.

As far as I can tell Neal never said this....
Tho he did say West sounded alot like Perry.

STORY_TELLER wrote:West was quoted as commenting on how Augeri lost his voice DURING THE AUDITION ITSELF. So what in the world are you talking about here?

Not quite.
What you’ve done is embellish a lot of half-truths.
Andrew already clarified West’s quote. He meant that Augeri hadn’t sung for years when he first came out to audition. It did not mean to imply that Augeri lost his voice mid-audition (tho at first blush, it certainly reads that way).

I agree with your post, actually. West and Tate would’ve been exciting choices. Like JSS, these guys are their own men with an established musical identity and sound.
Augeri actually DOES bring his own Robert Plant-ish singing style to the table, but he had been AWOL from the music scene so long as to render himself an industry non-entity.

West and Tate would have made an exciting choice but due to their singer mentality of individuality they would have been poor choices to lead the band. The band figured out that they weren't looking for individuality when it came to singing; they were looking for someone who would fit into the empty shoes and jacket Perry left behind if he left any behind in any of the trunks or closets. I'm sure Arnel senses that in his work with the band from the start. It's like just be quiet and sing.
