I used to think that. I found out first hand, Steve Perry is a classy guy. A very very class gy.

Deano-man, I wish you'd elaborate. That line that Herbie uses where you'd turndown a life-jacket is a really strong visual. Shed some light and help me see THAT Steve. Still though, no matter what, 1 hell of a voice. Past the personal crap, the songs resonate so great in my generation.

Nope, no can do, but it is very real and I will always appreciate Mr. Perry's kindness.

Years past this interview, my belief is that Steve Perry would not sacrifice everything to continue being in Journey. He had a personal and professional life, and was no longer willing to put one before the other. Does that make him a "prick"? No way. That's called integrity. But, if you are someone who has to try to make that person work within different constraints, that is not going to be easy. Herbie's view of him is probably jaded by butting heads with him for so many years. It doesn't mean his personal experiences with Perry aren't true, but I'm sure they are being presented in a negative light, at least sub-consciously.

i don't think either one is the bad guy in all of this.i think perry finally got to the point where he had plenty of money, had gotten his fill of the grind of the rock and roll life, plus i think he had learned a lot and started to feel like he could start calling a few shots.the wanting to start calling more of the shots, not wanting to record new material, going against some of herberts decisions started to make herbie resent perry.herbert wanted to keep that cash cow rolling and perry finally threw a monkey wrench in all the grandiose plans for the future of the band.i think herbie is right in that if journey would've continued they would've been a bigger band than they are now.
