my son went to a memorial service at virginia tech last may and these assholes were there as well, screaming shit like "those people deserved to die!"...sick fuckers. i'm all for free speech, but this just isn't right.

I remember that. It was the main memorial service the morning after the candlelight vigil on the drillfield. Those motherfuckers were out there with their signs and picketing. Never, EVER, EVER before in my life have I wanted to mame and inflict pain on people the way I did those individuals. There are good runs and bad ones too, look back into past times in history (not just American). There have been far worse situations. I'm not a huge fan of Dubya, but I don't hate him either. Dude is what he is, each presidency is different and not ONE single individual should shoulder the blame for the state of the world. Trying to pile all our problems off on one person is infantile. Just because everything happened on his "watch" doesn't mean the moments of prevention or allusion could've been the same time too. This incessant argument has been around since the dawn of politics and will continue to be so. You're not trying to argue any point that opponents of Ceasar Octavian, Justinian, Louis XVI, or William Churchill haven't already. Every leader fucks up, they're human after all. Just don't try to act like he's the first one who ever faltered.

Then when 9/11 happened he manipulated the intelligence information, the congress, Colin Powell, the UN, and the public with all his flag waving, mom, apple pie and John Wayne posturing and sound bites so he could use it as the excuse he needed. I saw it for exactly what it was as soon as he started twisting and spinning the public consciousness away from Bin Laden and toward Sadaam and it still absolutely amazes me that there are so many people who are still blinded by that bullshit. It wasn't even that bright or brilliant. He's such a damned buffoon that if I'd seen something like that in a movie I would have called it farce.
