I've tried SL out a couple years ago, registered and the next minute I sank into the ocean or whatever that was...all the way to the bottom.I was officially "dead". :| I laughed my ass off, uninstalled the programm and never went back again.

Interesting *virtual* move for Journey.I guess it will be interesting to see the band evolving in cyber-space.
Can we hope for a cyber-reunion with Steve Perry?

he was already on there i believe. just hook the two entities up and let's see.

Some cyber-lawyers would be necessary, too. As long as they'd convince them to sign the cyber-agreements...we can cyber-hope.

But, as many have said, and I agree, I'm overloaded with my real life. No time to get involved and spend tons of time in a virtual one.

.

Exactly... Nothing at this stage is goign to replace a great community of fans in a forum (such as here). Drop in, read post and bugger off again...no need to have to hang out over an extended period.

Anything you might miss on a message board is there to read and catch up on later.

Duran Duran was the first band I believe to play a virtual concert in "Second Life". Maybe Journey figures that performing for an audience of people who stay glued to their computer screens most of their lives is the best way to reach out to us... :P

isn't this what everyone wanted? remember no more misleading about the lead singer still being Perry

I give them credit for doing this. Most of the people here thought they weren't getting with the program as far as the internet and technology were concerned. Now, whether or not it will actually be any good remains to be seen.

They have been obsessed with this idea for a long time now. No more BT.

Yeah they have, I can remember Cj announcing SL on BT and enticing peeps to join. When I tried to join, I was asked for a credit card # so I opted out; however, I know that a few did join and enjoyed their journey.

Now that I have a better understand of what this is, I realize it isn't meant for us. It's a strategy to attract younger generations to the music of Journey and extend the brand "Journey" into today's entertainment market. It's a business strategy, nothing more, nothing less.

it's a bad idea. at this point in the game they are not going to attract a younger generation of fans because the members of the band are not a younger generation of musicians. if you follow with your logic or business sense then that too is not understandable because they have alienated a lot of their fan base with their manuverings with singers. Nobody clearly thought this through. They're going to have to re-establish their relationship with the fans and draw them to the website with some reallly good attractions but then again people are fickle and want to get their pictures with the guys so maybe it'll work after all. Forget everything I have said.

This is the first I've ever heard about "Second Life"

So I guess it's some sort of computer game where your character hangs out with other characters online and on this day the Journey characters will be there doing a pretend concert using pre-recorded tracks?

So?

Are we talking the actual band members controlling their own sims? That would be something! How are we supposed to know if it's actually them?

Interesting that they're moving into the cyberworld as they seem to be so bloody afraid of computers and the internet.

It sounds as if it probably isn't going to be much different of a site, based on what's been said about any criticism. It sounds like everything will be 100% positive (which means 100% UNREALISTIC), all the time! Another yawn fest...BORING!

Well, if there are islands for all the albums on the Second Life site, as the press release says, then they will have to create a Stevie character to inhabit Arrival-, Red 13-, and Generations-lands. And they will have to dress him in SOMETHING. And we could create our own avatars and go wiggle with him in 360 degree 3D.

someone said arnel pic is not on ticketmaster or something.do they try and go out on tours letting the casual fan believe that perry is still there or better yet do they just sort of not inform the ticket buyer when one of the annual singer changes happen? this is deception.i'm surprised they haven't been sued for this sort of thing.
